00:00 nature so since this channel is dead :) where might one look to find a freelance Typo3 expret
00:00 nature i have a short term problem that needs fixing
00:03 Denyerec Heh
00:03 Denyerec You're looking in the right *place*
00:03 Denyerec Simply at the wrong time.
00:03 Denyerec Boxing day, 2310hrs.
00:03 nature ahhh
00:04 nature boxing day?
00:04 Denyerec Only incredibly stupid people like myself loiter at such hours.
00:04 Denyerec Day after Christmas == Boxing Day
00:04 nature oh
00:04 Denyerec Anyhow, what's your problem ?
00:08 Denyerec nature ?
00:13 nature ooopd doty
00:13 nature sorry
00:13 nature well it's like this
00:13 nature i work for a company that is deploying a site and it's due very soon and we are a bit behind
00:13 nature on top of needing to get some stuff done
00:13 nature some of which i don't entirely understand
00:14 nature (only been at this typo3 thing for about 5 weeks)
00:14 nature we have this nastly little documented error
00:14 nature "Template not Found"
00:16 Denyerec Which country are you in ?
00:17 Denyerec nature?
00:17 nature USA
00:17 Denyerec Which side?
00:17 Denyerec It's a big place...
00:17 nature I'm in Arizona
00:17 nature my company is in New York
00:17 Denyerec That's kinda in the middle, right?
00:18 Denyerec So you're on Central time ?
00:18 nature more to the left side
00:18 nature mountain time
00:18 Denyerec ES
00:18 Denyerec Hmm
00:18 nature it's 4:25PM
00:18 Denyerec ok so it's what.... 1725hrs for you ?
00:18 Denyerec Ah, ok.
00:18 Denyerec When do you start work ?
00:18 Denyerec I will be back in in about 9 hours time, as I am just about to go to bed.
00:18 nature varies really.. i'll be working late tonight and starting at 8 am or so
00:19 Denyerec If you head back here tomorrow morning, I'll be happy to help you.
00:19 nature alright... sounds good. I of course need to clear things with the boss man, etc. depending on the direction we try to take
00:19 Denyerec Well, you won't lose much in 12-18 hours :)
00:20 nature well on
00:20 Denyerec It will help if you have a public server I can log in to
00:20 Denyerec As it's 1,000,000 times easier to assist when one can see the backend.
00:20 Denyerec Lo isolysis
00:20 nature it's public and all
00:20 nature yes, i know
00:20 isolysis hi Denyerec
00:20 isolysis @D
00:20 isolysis :D
00:20 nature but those are of course the tings that must get cleared with the bossman
00:20 nature heh
00:21 Denyerec Ok cool, well if you don't get it stitched up before tomorrow, give me a shout in here.
00:21 nature ok
00:21 nature oh we wont' get stiched up
00:21 nature that error is killing us
00:21 Denyerec And if not, still stick around. It's a nice channel, with lots of helpful people
00:21 nature and the guy on the job of fixing it
00:21 Denyerec (When they're not slumped under the table overdosed on turkey)
00:21 nature ... 4 days of typo3 :)
00:21 nature sounds good
00:21 Denyerec Well then, I shall catch you tomorrow :)
00:21 Denyerec Gnight chaps!
00:21 isolysis gnight peace out den
00:22 isolysis what are you working on nature
00:22 nature well... i have a typo3 site my company is deploying in a few days
00:22 nature and i'm trying to get it in shape
00:22 nature so among other things we are short handed
00:22 nature and lack experience in places (myself in cluded)
00:23 isolysis what specific thing are you having trouble with
00:23 nature yes
00:23 nature "Template Not Found"
00:23 nature which goes away when FE is cleared
00:23 nature FE cache
00:23 isolysis you are using TV?
00:23 nature TV?
00:24 isolysis TemplaVoila extension
00:24 nature let me look to see if it's installed
00:24 nature we're not using it on the site i don't think
00:24 nature (i only have a about 5 weeks t3 experience - learning on the job)
00:24 isolysis so this is a just installed basic version of typo3?
00:24 nature well no it ain't that easy
00:24 nature it's stupid
00:25 nature it was an install coppied over from another deployed site
00:25 nature (which if i knew better at the time I would have pushed to do it differently)
00:25 isolysis how did you copy it over, via export t3d tree structure, or you copied the database only?
00:26 nature i didn't do the copy
00:26 nature i think they probably did a filesystem copy and an export/import of the db
00:26 nature no VE installed
00:26 isolysis where is the public site hosted, whats the link?
00:27 nature http://hfn.gcnpublishing.com/
00:27 nature you can generate the error if you click around the news stuff
00:27 isolysis the main site seems to be working
00:28 nature if you click a news article
00:28 nature and it generates the error
00:28 nature and go back to the main site
00:28 nature it also will have the error
00:28 nature (usually)
00:30 isolysis this seems to be tt_news related problem
00:30 isolysis it would seem the single template file has not been defined perhaps
00:30 nature well
00:31 nature you can get the single page to load
00:31 nature after the cache is cleared
00:32 Denyerec Dude
00:32 Denyerec go to your root page
00:32 Denyerec Edit page Properties
00:32 Denyerec Then where you set the template, make sure that you have selected the subpages to inherit the template too
00:33 Denyerec anyway
00:33 Denyerec I sleep
00:33 Denyerec bak in 8 hours
00:33 nature i'm not seeing where that is set
00:33 nature ok
00:33 nature g'night
00:35 isolysis in the left column you have the tree structure.. looking for the uppermost actual page.. i.e. your front page maybe, then right click and edit properties
00:36 nature yeah...
00:36 nature Web>Page then the top most page is HFN Site
00:36 nature i click that
00:36 nature Edit Page properties
00:36 nature opens window in right with features like Hide PAge, Type, Pagetitle
00:44 isolysis it should have something there maybe about template to use for that page, and whether it is inherited by subpages?
00:48 isolysis nature: i am looking at http://hfn.gcnpublishing.com/index.php?id=118 can you locate this page in your backend
00:48 nature yes
00:48 isolysis tell me what you see on the right panel of your backend when trying to edit that page
00:48 isolysis not page properties, but the actual page content
00:49 nature ok i'm in Web>Page People on the Move
00:49 nature right screen shows the column view (left normal, right, border)
00:50 nature in Normal column there is an HTML container and a Plugin container (tt_news)
00:50 isolysis do you see some plugin inserts, for like news etc
00:50 hawkins353 hello
00:50 nature yes
00:50 nature hello
00:50 isolysis ok for the news plugin, click the pencil icon so we can edit it
00:50 nature done
00:50 isolysis then once you are in, tell me what type of settings it says
00:51 hawkins353 May I ask a question about the typo3 install?
00:51 nature one sec
00:51 isolysis hawkins353: you dont have to ask to ask.... just ask, and if someone can help, they will
00:53 hawkins353 Ok - I am trying the install and got as far as the sendmail test. It says that it's ok but i don't get any email when I perform the test.
00:53 isolysis is your server configured to use sendmail in general
00:54 hawkins353 I'm not even sure - it's a company space set up for the department.
00:56 isolysis hmm... what about the rest of the install steps.. do them first, you can always come back to sendmail configuration at a later point, even after typo3 is installed and working you can still open up the install tool and test the sendmail
00:56 nature ok back
00:56 nature (sorry, girlfriend that tried to break up with me just called - i wouldn't let her get away with it)
00:57 nature i see the news plugin page
00:57 nature Type: Insert Plugin
00:57 nature Header : people on the move
00:57 nature Plugin: News
00:57 nature Plugin Options: with the four tabs
00:57 nature typo3 4.1.2
00:57 isolysis tell me what the four tabs are
00:57 nature btw
00:58 isolysis i think the far right is template?
00:58 nature General Settings, Template, Category Settings, Other Settings
00:58 isolysis select template tab
00:58 nature done
00:58 isolysis now for those settings, the first option is something like 'template file to use or something?
00:58 nature right
00:58 nature Template File
00:59 isolysis and does it have a html file defined here?
00:59 nature no
00:59 isolysis hehe
00:59 isolysis ok there should be an icon on the right... click it and popup
00:59 nature right
00:59 isolysis it should be filemanager
00:59 nature element browser
00:59 nature same same
00:59 isolysis yeah
01:00 isolysis umm
01:00 isolysis im thinking
01:00 isolysis ive not really used ttnews
01:00 isolysis but i am guessing you have to select the right template depending on the type of news you are using
01:00 isolysis there is option view for LIST, SINGLE, LATEST etc
01:00 nature well... sorta. if i go into the typoscript editor it shows a default template
01:01 nature and from what i can tell it uses that
01:01 nature unless i define it here (which i did for my home page news)
01:01 nature but i suppose i can go in and move the file over and define it
01:02 nature here's a problem though
01:02 isolysis wait.. i think this is the tempalte for the main news section
01:02 isolysis what you need to do is define the template for the single news
01:02 isolysis i.e. this page id 118 is using the LIST method
01:03 nature in the default template there are about 8 sections
01:03 nature including single news
01:03 isolysis actually you can check... click the first tab on the far left..
01:03 nature (i was in news template hell yesterday)
01:03 nature ok
01:03 isolysis oh
01:03 nature i can generate that error
01:03 nature w/o touching news
01:03 isolysis where
01:04 nature let me open the access log to make sure nobody else is hitting it
01:04 nature i do this
01:04 isolysis locate the page id
01:04 nature i clear FE cash
01:04 nature I open home page
01:04 isolysis and right click to edit properties
01:04 nature o go to Resources Opinions
01:04 nature if i hit submit i get the error
01:04 nature but if i load the errr
01:04 nature not opinions
01:04 nature Survey
01:04 nature if i open the survey then clear cache then submit the resuults pages loads
01:06 isolysis you lost me
01:06 nature ok
01:06 nature see the Resources menu on the right?
01:07 nature in it is surveys
01:07 nature i clear the FE cache
01:07 nature I load the home page
01:08 nature I go to the menu
01:08 nature I load Surveys
01:08 isolysis nm i see now
01:08 nature submit survey
01:08 nature get error
01:08 nature but if i load the Surveys page
01:08 isolysis the hover menu wasnt loading opinions or surver link under resources
01:08 nature then clear FE cache
01:08 isolysis thats why i couldnt see it
01:08 nature then hit submit I don't get the error
01:09 nature ahhh
01:09 isolysis i tried submitting the form and got the template erorr
01:09 nature right
01:09 nature and if yo go here
01:09 nature http://hfn.gcnpublishing.com/index.php?id=120
01:09 nature you get it again
01:09 nature so go there and tell me when you are there
01:12 isolysis hmm strange the form submitted for me now
01:12 nature yup
01:12 nature because i cleared the FE cache
01:12 nature and now you can navigate to Surveys again
01:13 nature and find the error waiting
01:13 nature it's driving us absolutely mad
01:13 nature and has been for a month
01:23 isolysis i think i noticed you mention typo3 4.1.2 version?
01:23 isolysis which is your rootpage id?
01:24 isolysis locate it in your backend again
01:24 isolysis nature @ @
01:25 sessaid Should there be a significant difference between the extensions available from repositories on a Linux vs a Windows machine? I wasn't able to get TemplaVoila on my windows installation and when I compared the cache_extentions records the windows machine had about 5000 records (templavoila missing) vs 12000 for Linux.
01:26 sessaid I tried the update/retrieve few times but that didn't help.
01:26 nature ok
01:26 nature root page id
01:27 nature 10, which is a shortcut to 1
01:28 isolysis hmm.. and do either of these pages have the 'is rootpage? ' flag set
01:28 isolysis which one is set like that
01:28 nature it appears both are set like that
01:30 isolysis and do either of these pages have a template defined or anyting
01:31 isolysis just a quick question, have you tried deleting the temp files in your typo3conf/ folder since moving the folders over
01:31 nature i don't think we have tried that
01:32 nature and yes they both have templates defined for them
01:32 isolysis in your typo3conf/ folder there should be some temp* files perhaps you can try deleting them
01:32 isolysis sessaid: to my knowledge, templavoila is available on a windows installation.. it shouldnt be affected by this
01:33 sessaid isolysis: I did not have a problem in the past but a new install today is not working right.
01:34 nature there's a bazillion files in there
01:34 nature hmm
01:34 isolysis nature: what kind of files.. there shouldnt be too many
01:34 isolysis nature: rather than deleting them from here manually,... load the install tool
01:35 nature ok
01:35 nature oh oops... wrong folder
01:36 nature yes, two temp files
01:38 isolysis in your install tool, under 9: edit files in typo3conf
01:38 isolysis you can delete the temp_cached files
01:41 nature ok
01:44 nature whoa
01:44 nature that just made it worse :)
01:45 isolysis nature: how so?
01:47 isolysis in your install tool, there should be a database compare tool
01:47 nature it made it so that all pages error right away
01:47 isolysis try that and see if it matches ok
01:48 isolysis nature: when i browse the main site, i see the pages working,, but the template not found pops up eventually
01:48 nature yeah
01:48 nature ok maybe it didn't make it worse
01:49 isolysis nothing to worry about anyway as those temp files will get regerenated
01:49 nature right... i wasn't worried
01:53 nature compare DB made a big old long list
02:04 isolysis nature: did you compare tables and compare with tca, everything check out ok,?
02:04 isolysis it should match i think
02:04 nature well, it doesn't match entirely
02:04 isolysis sometimes if there are errors it reports them here and lets you repair
02:04 nature it's a very long page that i am reading through
02:04 nature lots of extra DB tables
02:04 nature compared to tca
02:05 isolysis yes it will list tables from the db which you have extra from the extensions you install, but there are some basic ones for tca which are mandatory
02:46 isolysis nature: since the pages are working sometimes, and then sometimes not.. and reappearing after clearing the fe cache, it would appear there is some conflict in your migration of the site somehow, maybe there is a setting for the template which is wrong, or something in the cache files is being reapplied wrongly
02:46 nature yeah... i advocated weeks ago doing a fresh install and moving things over slowly
02:49 isolysis nature: if you try edit page id 120 where the survey is located, try edit page properties... does it list a template to use
03:17 MatBoy guys, I can't find out how to setup multiple sites using subdomains
03:37 nature no, under edit page properties there is no template listing
03:37 nature template config is located elsewhere
03:40 nature require beer
06:03 d|g hi all
06:03 d|g ïðèâåò âñåì )
06:44 nature only a check?
06:44 nature you must have AA
06:48 nature oh good, the donk again
09:42 koomi moin
10:11 TYPO3 hello
10:12 solshark hi
10:25 TYPO3 solshark
10:25 TYPO3 how r u ?
10:25 solshark TYPO3: Fine, thx. And you?
10:33 TYPO3 me also
10:33 TYPO3 man r u good in Typo3 ?
10:39 typochur TYPO3, define "good"
11:15 m0oman moo.
11:37 dfg x
11:37 dfg v
11:37 dfg c
11:43 andreasbalzer How can I wrap a TYPOSCRIPT USER object? (...... = USER)
11:50 Denyerec andreasbalzer - make it part of a COA_INT ?
11:50 Denyerec and add the wrap to that ?
11:50 andreasbalzer how to do that in detail?
11:50 andreasbalzer just overwrite it to be a COA_INT?
11:50 Denyerec fred = COA_INT
11:50 Denyerec fred.10 = MyUserObject
11:51 Denyerec fred.wrap = <blah>|</blah>
11:51 Denyerec Sorry
11:51 Denyerec fred.10 < MyUserObject
11:54 andreasbalzer thanks :)+
11:54 andreasbalzer Where can I specify the max width and max height per column?
11:54 andreasbalzer for images
11:54 andreasbalzer ;)
11:56 andreasbalzer I'll write it again :) Where can I specify the maximum dimensions of an image TYPO3 generates within a specific column?
12:00 typochur somehow kj_imagelightbox puts some extra attributes in the <a> tag, which makes my source fail validation ...
12:00 typochur <a [...] id="0" showNumberDisplay="0" kjtag="">
12:01 typochur id has to start with a letter, and wtf kinds of tags are showNumberDisplay and kjtak ?
12:02 Denyerec Columns ? Now you lost me.
12:02 Denyerec I know how to do it in TemplateVoila
12:02 Denyerec Typochur - they're used by the javascript to identify what to do with the images.
12:03 typochur Denyerec, but it not w3c valid :(
12:03 Denyerec You may fail strict validation, but your source-code is structurally valid and thus the minor inconsistencies won't affect cross-browser rendering, which really is your only concern.
12:03 Denyerec Pah, doesn't matter.
12:03 Denyerec You think Windows XP compiled without warnings?
12:03 Denyerec ;)
12:03 typochur i don't use it, so I don't care :)
12:04 Denyerec When it comes to extra tags inside a tag, so long as they don't structurally invalidate your code, I really, really, really wouldn't worry about it.
12:04 Denyerec Especially if you want to do cool stuff.
12:04 typochur mh ... why does he need to put attribs in <a>? The attribs in <img> should be enough
12:04 Denyerec Not always
12:04 Denyerec depends how you write the javascript.
12:04 Denyerec the more work you do in JS, the less information you woudl need to leave in the markup
12:05 typochur I see it as a sing of bad coding ;) He could just give a picture an id (with a valid name) and do all the other stuff by JS
12:05 typochur s/sing/sign
12:05 Denyerec Yes, but then you would have to enforce an ID naming scheme
12:05 Denyerec which might have caused complaints from people who use a similar scheme on their page already, etc.
12:05 typochur no he uses id="0", id="1" which is not valid too
12:06 typochur s/no/now
12:06 Denyerec So I guess it's all a compromise on how best to fit in in the majority of cases
12:06 Denyerec Whaa?
12:06 Denyerec Gah
12:06 Denyerec OK well *THAT* is stupid
12:06 typochur :)
12:06 typochur grmbl ... the page has to pass w3c :( ... now I have to change everything ...
12:14 Denyerec Why does it have to pass if it renders correctly
12:14 Denyerec ?
12:14 Denyerec Some specification from the client ?
12:15 typochur because it's our policy :)
12:16 typochur i can not test rendering on _all_ browsers :)
12:16 typochur so I write clean code, and if the browser renders wrong, it's not my problem
12:30 pulponair good morning
12:39 Denyerec Hey pulp
12:42 koomi__ aloha hee
12:46 pulponair hey dudes
12:48 Denyerec I gottta head out
12:48 Denyerec gna
12:49 Denyerec later chaps
12:56 typochur mh, prob I just filter out the bad tags by str_replace :D
12:56 typochur only problem is the id-name starting with a number
14:10 Atomfried hi

15:02 solshark TYPO3: Then open Extension Manager and from selector box on top of the page choose "Create new extension" :)
15:04 solshark TYPO3: Remeber main idea: kickstrater - not the editor. It just create something like extension template.

15:50 toMeloos small question: I've got a multilanguage site. Hoovering the mouse pointer over the alternative language flags (english and german) displays a tooltip with the language name. what is the TypoScript command to set the label for the default language?
15:52 typochur TYPO3, yeah, somehow you are write ;)
15:56 Denyerec jeez
15:56 Denyerec you people with your damn "Typo" in your names.
15:56 Denyerec You must have real names... use em!
16:02 typochur why
16:03 Denyerec because once outside of here, the name has no context.
16:03 Denyerec and theres too many of them
16:03 Denyerec annnnnnnd
16:03 Denyerec it's just annoying
16:05 typochur i dont think so :) Its advertisement
16:05 typochur :)
16:05 typochur besides i just use this name and url on typo channels and projects :)
16:06 typochur my "real nickname" is fuchur ... so just changed a little bit :)
16:30 af_ how can I put different favicon.ico in a multidomain site?
16:36 isolysis af_ you have to define the favicon.ico explicitly in your template header for each site
16:38 af_ I see, there is any key could search google for to have docs?
16:42 solshark af_: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon
16:44 af_ thank so much, not so used to think at wikipedia for such things - I am an old guy :(
16:45 solshark af_: No problem
16:48 af_ it woks great first try :)
17:33 uffi Denyerec ?
17:33 uffi are you there?
17:51 _anna_ have a question to a typo3 installation onto linux, can anyone help?
17:53 pH-Wert hi everybody
17:54 _anna_ hi
17:55 pH-Wert is there a possibility in tt_news to create a list of news for example only for a certain year or month?
17:59 pH-Wert anybody out there? or are you all stuffed with your christmas meals? ;)
18:01 _anna_ i am here... but i can not help you
18:01 _anna_ ;)
18:02 _anna_ i am waiting as well for an answer
18:02 pH-Wert that is so nice that you are sharing these wonderful moments with me ;)
18:03 _anna_ ;)
18:04 pH-Wert so what is your problem?
18:04 TYPO3 _anna_
18:04 pH-Wert well i totally understand that the most people are "camping" here instead of standing outside in the cold ;9
18:05 TYPO3 if you want i have a video
18:05 TYPO3 explaining everything
18:05 _anna_ is it possible to copy the content of the dummy package in the document root
18:05 _anna_ and the src folder also into the document root
18:06 _anna_ on a linux system
18:06 _anna_ but i have not a ssh login to this server
18:08 koomi _anna_: if you don't have shell access (ssh) use the windows zips and follow the instructions
18:08 pH-Wert well thats bad ... but it seems that TYPO3 has your solution ... i hope so ... else i try to help you
18:08 koomi pH-Wert: you probably want to use the archive mode for that
18:09 _anna_ is it possible to update the windowslike installatian
18:11 pH-Wert koomi: well .... yes and no :) ... i wanna use the list plugin, but only showing archived tagged news for a certain year or month ... that has the advantage, that i (and especially the users) easily can create links for every year and month ...
18:11 koomi _anna_: jep. to update you need to simply replace the src folders
18:12 _anna_ ok
18:12 _anna_ thx
18:12 _anna_ koomi
18:12 koomi pH-Wert: hmm. you probably can build the urls by hand - not quite sure how tt_news handles the "picking the right month" logic but it's probably passed as a parameter
18:12 koomi _anna_: you're welcome
18:13 koomi pH-Wert: or perhaps you're lucky and someone hacked an extension to do it
18:13 koomi or you go crazy with related articles :)
18:14 pH-Wert koomi: that would be cool ;) ... but seriously .. i think that is not too tricky, but i just thought anyone would know a hint ...
18:27 Denyerec uffi ?
18:27 Denyerec uschi ?
18:27 uschi hi Denyerec
18:27 Denyerec Wassup m'dear?
18:27 uschi see query
18:50 MatBoy hi guys, I'm going to love typo3 :D
18:59 uschi MatBoy, how comes?
19:05 MatBoy uschi, because I have tested every CMS system and tested typolight
19:05 MatBoy so
19:05 MatBoy if that was quite diable
19:05 MatBoy doable
19:05 uschi typolight?
19:05 MatBoy typo3 will be too
19:05 MatBoy yap
19:05 uschi what is that?
19:05 MatBoy uschi, typolight.org
19:08 uschi typolight looks like a typo3 clone with that pagetree
19:12 MatBoy uschi, it is
19:13 uschi who developed it?
19:13 uschi DCA statt TCA *grin*
19:28 MatBoy where do I have to upload a template ? I can't find it :S
19:36 MatBoy mhh weird
19:42 toMeloos MatBoy: what are you trying to do?
19:42 toMeloos >MatBoy< where do I have to upload a template ?
19:42 toMeloos ^^ ?
19:42 MatBoy toMeloos, I have downloaded a template and uploaded this to fileadmin/templates
19:42 toMeloos eeh
19:43 MatBoy but this is not OK if you aks me
19:43 toMeloos yes, well, the html related parts should go to the fileadmin
19:43 MatBoy ok
19:43 toMeloos so your .htm(l) files, css files, images, etc. should be uploaded using the fileadmin
19:43 toMeloos place them in a template folder you create
19:44 toMeloos but then you have to create the "real" template
19:44 toMeloos meaning the typo3 part
19:44 toMeloos do you want to use the traditional templating system or templavoila?
19:44 MatBoy toMeloos, OK, that is part 2
19:44 MatBoy templavoila should be nice I understood :p
19:45 toMeloos it's really cool
19:45 toMeloos got the hang of it today myself ;)
19:45 toMeloos have you read the manuals?
19:46 MatBoy toMeloos, nope not yet.. I just switched to typo3 from typolight :D
19:46 MatBoy and joomla and so on
19:46 toMeloos ah ok
19:46 MatBoy I need user sites... so I need or typolight or typo3
19:46 toMeloos go to typo3.org, to the tutorial section
19:47 toMeloos and read the modern template building part 1 tutorial and then read the futuristic template building tutorial
19:48 toMeloos I actually first got my template working using the "old" system with help of the modern template building part 1 tutorial
19:48 toMeloos and then rebuild the template using templavoila based on the modern template building tutorial
19:49 toMeloos the html/css/images part remains, you only rebuild the template records in typo3 itself
19:49 toMeloos I'm not much for reading manuals, but these were really helpful
19:49 MatBoy ok nice
19:49 toMeloos really got me to understand the system
19:50 MatBoy mhh, I don't see the download link on the site, only information
19:50 toMeloos and even though templavoila is actually easier than the old system, it was really useful getting hang of the basics
19:50 MatBoy have it :D
19:50 toMeloos hold on
19:50 MatBoy it was somewhere between
19:50 MatBoy install it fro the BE ?
19:51 toMeloos http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/tutorials/doc_tut_templselect/current/
19:51 toMeloos and
19:51 toMeloos http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/tutorials/doc_tut_ftb1/current/
19:51 MatBoy kewl thanks
19:52 MatBoy mhh
19:53 toMeloos good luck studying, it's just something you have to undergo once to enjoy typo3. if you get stuck after that, check out the newsgroups. loads of typoscript code snippets there. if that doesn't help, feel free to ask
19:54 MatBoy toMeloos, indeed, but installing a extention ?
19:54 MatBoy from the backend or by uploading ?
19:54 toMeloos installing extensions is always from the backend
19:54 MatBoy ok
19:54 toMeloos use the TER
19:55 MatBoy TER ?
19:55 MatBoy install it from the extentions page ?
19:56 MatBoy ow I see what you mean
19:56 toMeloos read this one first then: http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/tutorials/doc_tut_quickstart/current/
19:57 toMeloos coming from typolight that one won't take you very long ;)
19:57 toMeloos it explains the basics of the backend
19:57 MatBoy yep, true, but I can't find a grey + :S
19:58 toMeloos keep looking, i'm sure you'll figure it out ;)
19:58 MatBoy mhh
19:58 MatBoy ok
19:59 MatBoy ah I see
20:01 MatBoy toMeloos, do you install them in typo3conf/ext ? because I thought that was not advised
20:01 MatBoy damn this is quite easy :D
20:02 isolysis MatBoy: extensions are automatically installed into typo3conf/ext/... when you import via the admin backend
20:03 MatBoy isolysis, yep I see and it is great !
20:09 MatBoy toMeloos, you installed tempvoila on the latest stable release ?
20:12 MatBoy ah ok, I needed to login again
20:12 MatBoy the link works now
20:22 toMeloos i think i need to upgrade
20:23 toMeloos installed on a almost-latest release ;)
20:25 MatBoy toMeloos, wierd, I get 404 errors on the wizard
20:25 MatBoy page not found :S
20:25 MatBoy can't delete pages
20:27 MatBoy after the installation of tempvoila
20:27 toMeloos which wizard?
20:27 MatBoy of tempvoila
20:27 MatBoy that hangs
20:27 MatBoy and when I go back to it I only can cancel the wizard
20:27 MatBoy :S
20:28 MatBoy I have errors on all pages
20:28 MatBoy I think I will drop the DB
20:31 MatBoy toMeloos, this is weird, I can't delete templates using the old versino either
20:33 toMeloos i don't know what's going on
20:34 toMeloos keep in mind i'm no expert either
20:34 toMeloos i probably have only about 2 days of tinkering more experience than you...
20:35 void hello guys and gals
20:36 void and expecially denyerec -)
20:36 Denyerec Got any results yet Void?
20:36 void which ones? about exams?
20:36 Denyerec aye
20:37 void exams will start in january...
20:37 void today i did write last test..
20:38 Denyerec ahhh ok
20:38 Denyerec Just in the middle of watching a movie with girlfriend, so I will be back in a little while
20:38 Denyerec Seasons greetings to you and all that!
20:38 void so.. all is ok, but i am not in time with one term paper
20:39 void you too -)
20:50 MatBoy toMeloos, I think it's abug with the latest release and templavoila
20:50 toMeloos why do you think that?
20:50 toMeloos it's marked stable
20:51 MatBoy toMeloos, because it doesn't work here
20:51 MatBoy I get page not found stuff and so on
20:51 MatBoy after installing
20:51 MatBoy even the menu
20:52 toMeloos yes..
20:52 toMeloos could also be a webserver configuration issue?
20:52 toMeloos something related to url rewriting or so?
20:52 MatBoy toMeloos, PHP5, not limited and so on
20:52 MatBoy nope
20:52 MatBoy all turned off
20:53 MatBoy toMeloos, static_info has the bug
20:53 toMeloos try searching the newsgroups. might help out
20:53 MatBoy PHP Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in
20:54 m0oman http://www.thxbye.de/tech-blog/more/typo3-cannot-re-assign-this.html
20:54 toMeloos there we go!
20:54 toMeloos 10 points for m0oman :+
20:55 m0oman :P
20:56 MatBoy yes I found it
20:56 MatBoy I need to install 2.0.5
20:56 MatBoy toMeloos, what version are you running ?
20:57 toMeloos 4.1.3
20:57 m0oman yeah. it will fix the error in like 98% of the cases, as it fixes a bug in the extension that was using erroneus php behaviour, which was fixed in the latest php releases.
20:57 MatBoy I found it on the typo3 site :P
20:57 MatBoy ok
20:57 MatBoy let me look
20:57 toMeloos i should upgrade to 4.1.5
20:57 MatBoy you can't update the module just like that I have the idea
20:58 MatBoy I need to uninstall templavoila, remove the extention and install the new one
20:58 MatBoy I have the idea
21:00 toMeloos getting down and dirty with typo3
21:00 toMeloos :P
21:01 toMeloos I must say, i've seen some opportunities for making typo3 more user (admin) friendly...
21:02 MatBoy ok solved
21:03 MatBoy toMeloos, I have seen a great admin module... wow
21:03 MatBoy what have you seen ?
21:03 toMeloos one would be a typo3 support forum in english in stead of these outdated newsgroups.
21:05 toMeloos MatBoy: i support more point-and-click and less manual coding. that's all
21:06 MatBoy toMeloos, yes there are extentions for that
21:09 MatBoy toMeloos, were you able to remove a site with subpages ?
21:09 toMeloos yes
21:09 MatBoy ok, I get the error everytime
21:09 toMeloos but you have to change a setting
21:09 MatBoy ok :)
21:09 toMeloos allow recursive deletion
21:10 MatBoy where does it have to be set ?
21:11 MatBoy got it too :D
21:11 MatBoy man I have the idea that I'm dub sometimes with this tool... but it's better than joomla :D
21:15 MatBoy *dumb
21:16 isolysis recursive delete has to be set under user>admin> options
21:18 nature Denyerec?
21:18 nature BTW, we fixed the template not found error
21:18 nature a very twisted and convoluted fix
21:27 Denyerec ohh ?
21:27 Denyerec nature - what was it ?
21:28 MatBoy isolysis, yep found it
21:28 MatBoy toMeloos, works nice that extention
21:53 void nature: THAT bug? with utf-8 in typoscript?
21:57 Denyerec MMmhm ?
21:57 Denyerec Cmon SOMEONE has to spill the beans on this!
22:07 MatBoy I have the idea that not all templates work with Templavoila
22:39 timdeluxe hi folks, did someone also update the "cal" extension and has now problems with the list view template?
22:42 void timdeluxe: yes
22:42 timdeluxe aaah
22:42 timdeluxe the renamed the markers
22:42 timdeluxe i updated my template
22:43 timdeluxe and all whats surrounding the list entries comes from my template
22:43 timdeluxe but when it goes to the entries themselves its the ugly standard
22:43 timdeluxe its -> it is
22:44 timdeluxe the -> they
22:44 timdeluxe (above)
22:44 timdeluxe ehem
22:52 timdeluxe void: did you solve them?
22:52 void timdeluxe: i had other problem.. in the backend
22:52 void in web>list view -)
22:53 timdeluxe ah ok
22:53 timdeluxe hmpf, thanks anyway
23:16 kjaer Simple question, what is the default user and password? Can't find it anywhere.
23:17 void kjaer: admin/password
23:18 kjaer Okay, thanks. Where did I miss that?
23:18 void dunno..
23:31 isolysis hi all
23:37 Denyerec lo
23:38 isolysis hey den
23:38 isolysis did nature say how he fixed his problem
23:43 isolysis Denyerec: whats the default username:password for a new typo3 install on the backend?
23:43 Denyerec admin/password
23:43 Denyerec interesting
23:43 Denyerec cos someone had that earlier
23:43 Denyerec [22:23] <kjaer> Simple question, what is the default user and password? Can't find it anywhere.
23:43 Denyerec [22:24] <void> kjaer: admin/password
23:43 isolysis admin/password doesn't seem to work
23:43 Denyerec :)
23:43 Denyerec then you broke something
23:43 Denyerec :)
23:44 isolysis lol
23:44 isolysis what can i do to fix it
23:45 isolysis isn't there a md5 hash string in some conf file that is for admin be
23:46 isolysis ok nm
23:47 isolysis i think i see the problem, i dopped the database to start fresh, and now i need to update the required tables be_users hehe!
23:50 nature yeah, the utf-8 error and template not found was the bug
23:51 isolysis nature: what did you do to fix it
23:51 nature i didn't fix it but here is what the guy that worked on it did
23:52 nature and keep in mind
23:52 nature he's been on typo3 for 4 days total
23:52 nature When looking through the source code of Typo3, I saw that there were two "class.t3lib_page.php" files, and two "class.t3lib_tstemplate.php". One (of each set) was listed as "_old". These are the two files which deal with creating the data to be stored in the cache_hash table. The current running versions of the files were serializing the data and then using base64 encoding. The "_old" files simply serialize the data. In a previous version of Typ
23:52 nature I changed the two files to use the version without the base64 encoding and things seem to be working correctly. If the error occurs again please email me and if possible, tell me which page you were attempting to load.
23:55 Denyerec Interesting.
23:55 Denyerec You've upgraded the site, right ?
23:55 Denyerec Hence the problem ?
23:55 Denyerec Because I've never seen/heard/come into contact with that one before
