hi Jigal |

Fanty |
I've been forced to remap templates 4 times now. 3 of which the template had dropped a single mapping. This last time TV had dropped the entire mapping for a template and appeared as if never mapped before |
| 07:25 |
Fanty |
it did remember the headers tough |
| 07:36 |

did you change anything in the template files? |

Anyone know how to transform the raw data saved from a rtehtmlarea to html? -- I have a rtehtmlarea in a flexform setting a content area for a FE extension and need to output it with my class.myext_pi1.php |
| 09:21 |

hey ladies |

Fanty |
does typo3 have some feature for making an imagelink with a mouseover effect? |
| 10:43 |
ndee |
anyone configured the sr_language_menu yet? |
| 10:49 |
smda |
Fanty: image mouse rollover style? I don't know for general images with links, but with menus you use gmenu. |
| 10:51 |
Fanty |
smda: that might be a good idea to use a menu to display those icons |
| 10:51 |
Fanty |
think I'm going to try that |
| 10:52 |
smda |
Fanty: then check out http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/core-documentation/doc_core_tsbyex/0.0.16/view/7/5/ |

hello world |
| 11:28 |
Ceddo |
Hi there everyone. |
| 11:29 |
Ceddo |
I have a bunch of questions regarding css-styled content and menu rendering - the usual "just type away" rule applies, doesn't it? |
| 11:32 |
Ceddo |
Question #1, "contenttable". The css-styled content plugin wraps my tables in the class #contenttable - where is that defined? It's nor in my own css files neither in typos css files. when i DO define it in my files, it has no effect (said being, an other font) |
| 11:33 |
Ceddo |
Question #2, related to #1. I want to change the colors of tr-even tr-odd tr-last, thus helping me in working definition of #1's css would do the trick, i guess. |
| 11:35 |
Ceddo |
Question #3. content wrapping. Any text i type into the backend is wrapped in <p> elements, and every new line is so, also. What i do want is, that they aren't wrapped, rather finished by a <br> element, so my breaks are actual breaks on the rendered page and not seperate paragraphs (resulting in lots of empty lines between intended breaks) |
| 11:35 |
Ceddo |
Anyone helpful there..? |
| 11:36 |
Ceddo |
Oh, and just as a slight side/question - how do i change the <li> style to "square" ? :D |
| 11:36 |
Ries |
Ceddo: for the RTE there are settings, or you can instruct your users to do shift-enter |
| 11:37 |
Ries |
a enter on most, if not all applications means a new paragraph, not a newline |
| 11:37 |
Ceddo |
Where do i find those settings? |
| 11:38 |
Ries |
Ceddo: In the RTE :) I don't know them from the top of my head, not I use them (since a enter for me means a new paragraph) |
| 11:38 |
Ceddo |
But, let me check on shift-enter. If it does the trick, nvm the settings. |
| 11:38 |
Ries |
to change the li to square smply use CSS |
| 11:38 |
Ries |
shift enter, control enter.... something like that |
| 11:39 |
Ceddo |
Question #1, "contenttable". The css-styled content plugin wraps my tables in the class #contenttable - where is that defined? It's nor in my own css files neither in typos css files. when i DO define it in my files, it has no effect (said being, an other font) |
| 11:39 |
Ceddo |
Question #2, related to #1. I want to change the colors of tr-even tr-odd tr-last, thus helping me in working definition of #1's css would do the trick, i guess. |
| 11:39 |
Ceddo |
*repeats questions before join of Ries* |
| 11:39 |
Ries |
Ceddo: it's defined in typoscript |
| 11:40 |
Ceddo |
Shift-Enter results in a new paragraph, control-enter does nothing. |
| 11:40 |
Ries |
Ceddo: then check the manual for htmlarea.... it's quite good, although differcult to read |
| 11:43 |
Ceddo |
I'm a bit puzzled on this one, to be true. It seems inconvenient to start a new paragraph, actually - it would make sense when i'd write longer articles, but then again, it,d help to visualize done paragraphs ... |
| 11:43 |
Ceddo |
.. it's bugging me a little, really. |
| 11:52 |
Ceddo |
May i buzz zou if more uggers me? |
| 11:52 |
Ceddo |
+b |
| 11:53 |
koomi |
decoding of ceddo failed with error code -4 |
| 11:56 |
Ries |
Ceddo: These things are a struggle for everybody, it's to flexible may be? |
| 11:56 |
Ries |
Ceddo: But there are manuals, and it has been dicussed a lot on the mailinglists |
| 11:58 |
eeos |
hi there. has anyone ever used the seminar plug in? I wanted to know how to switch on control against duplication, that is disallowing users to register more than once for the same event, and I cannot find it in the documentation. |
| 11:59 |
pulponair |
ries: got a minute? |
| 12:05 |
pulponair |
if i got 10.if.isFalse.field = subtitle why is [10.w] avaible even if subtilte is set? |
| 12:09 |
dax77 |
hi @all |
| 12:09 |
koomi |
Ceddo: contenttable: the clas definition are removed by css_styled_content. check the setup.txt in sysext/css.. and search for contenttable |
| 12:09 |
koomi |
simply add your classes to the list |
| 12:10 |
koomi |
Ceddo: paragraph thing: you can change the rte's behaviour not to wrap p's and to add <br /> on return (and not p) |
| 12:22 |
eeos |
a philosophical topic of discussion: what do you think about the practice of modifying existing extensions, thta is of hard coding inside the classes of an existing extension your modifications? |
| 12:33 |
Ries |
hey pulponair, sure |
| 12:33 |
Ries |
pm? |
| 12:33 |
Ries |
Ahh I see your q.. |
| 12:34 |
Ries |
pulponair: it might be available because TS is a configuration langauge? I assume you did a t3lib_div::print_array on that to check? |
| 12:34 |
pulponair |
Ries: yeah |
| 12:38 |
pulponair |
ries: check my " GIFBuilder auto width and splitchar" post at the t3-english |

Hey everyone, I have a problems for hours allready... |
| 12:56 |
Denyerec |
Right |
| 12:56 |
Denyerec |
I'm going to sign up to the typo3 mailling list |
| 12:57 |
Denyerec |
on my google account |
| 12:58 |
Philero |
hi my name is Philippe, i am french, I work with Typo3. I saw on the official site that HTMLarea is dead. So I would know if Typo3 will use his own version of htmlarea rte in next version or maybe Typo3 will use an other rte soft? (the last update of extension is done since 14.02.2007) |
| 12:58 |
MasterYin |
I have a Menu in lvl3 of my page for the subpages of this page, no Problem so far... without using RealURL everything is okay, but starting RealUrl I got this links... domain.de/lvl4.htm and not the wanted domain.de/lvl1/lvl2/lvl3/lvl4.htm |
| 13:00 |
MasterYin |
any ideas? |
| 13:11 |
Denyerec |
Philero, AFAIK it uses HTMLRTE as its RTE |
| 13:11 |
Denyerec |
It's nasty |
| 13:11 |
Denyerec |
But it works. |
| 13:11 |
Denyerec |
There are a couple of other RTE's you can install as extensions. |
| 13:13 |
MasterYin |
Whats wrong with the default RTE some Hacks and it runs fine... :-) |
| 13:15 |
Philero |
yes other rte are available as extensions but i am interesting to the default rte choosen by typo3 team |
| 13:15 |
j0hndeere |
Good morning, earth humans. |
| 13:16 |
Denyerec |
MasterYin, you know it's dirty :) |
| 13:16 |
Philero |
Do you know a rte which respect the WCAG, accessibility? |
| 13:16 |
Denyerec |
Nope. |
| 13:17 |
Denyerec |
Wish I did though. |
| 13:17 |
Denyerec |
I personally think the RTE should be removed, and a Markdown system implemented. |
| 13:17 |
Denyerec |
But that's just me. |
| 13:17 |
MasterYin |
Anybody here having Ideas for my problem? |
| 13:18 |
Philero |
MasterYin: not me sorry |
| 13:19 |
Philero |
Denyerec: I don't understand what is a Markdown system, can you explain me please? |
| 13:19 |
Denyerec |
markdown |
| 13:20 |
Denyerec |
is just simple text markup |
| 13:20 |
Denyerec |
http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/ |
| 13:20 |
Denyerec |
Nice and simple |
| 13:20 |
Denyerec |
Stops clients doing stupid stuff. |
| 13:20 |
Denyerec |
If I could write a "Markdown RTE" I would |
| 13:20 |
Denyerec |
but Im not that good with javascript. |
| 13:21 |
Philero |
ok :) |
| 13:21 |
Philero |
thanks |
| 13:22 |
Denyerec |
I just like it as its simple and idiots can't ruin your CSS layouts with it :) |
| 13:25 |
Philero |
yes i agree |
| 13:27 |
ndee |
http://suzukiv2.autoglobal.ch/index.php?id=1&L=0 <-- I'm working on the language menu at the moment. Somehow, for the default language, it doesn't take the correct title. Instead of "de", it takes "German", how can I fix that? |
| 13:27 |
Philero |
the french cms "SPIP" use a similar system |
| 13:27 |
Denyerec |
Philero ? |
| 13:27 |
Philero |
but it don't make clean code yet |
| 13:28 |
Philero |
Denyerec: Yes? |
| 13:28 |
Denyerec |
wondered if you had more detail |
| 13:29 |
Philero |
more details about what? |
| 13:29 |
Denyerec |
SPIP or the system they use |
| 13:29 |
Philero |
yes |

Philero |
Denyerec: sorry it is in french : http://www.pyrat.net/Raccourcis-Typographiques-de-SPIP.html |

I have question concerning the Modern Template Building Tutorial Part 2, on page 13 it gets to creating an extension for including nested templates. Does this still hold true to ver 4.x or is there now an integrated solution? |
| 13:56 |
neostar |
dax77: since I see, I got my problem with the missing inline tsref solved, the install package had some missing database entries, I upgraded to 4.05 which solved the problem |
| 13:56 |
dax77 |
? |
| 13:57 |
neostar |
I think we spoke about 3-4 days ago |
| 13:57 |
dax77 |
:) |
| 13:57 |
Denyerec |
uschi would love to know. |
| 13:57 |
dax77 |
my brain is not so young anymore |
| 13:59 |
neostar |
dax77: I'm living on logfiles ;-) Feb 22nd by the way :-) |
| 13:59 |
Denyerec |
Hey dax |
| 13:59 |
dax77 |
Hi Denyerec |
| 13:59 |
Denyerec |
I wrote a PHP5 method for the crop cleaning |
| 13:59 |
Denyerec |
But it's.... ugly |
| 13:59 |
dax77 |
cool |
| 14:00 |
Denyerec |
Most likley very computationally heavy |
| 14:00 |
Denyerec |
uses DomDoc and SImpleXML to get what I want as I'm not that good with domDoc |
| 14:00 |
Denyerec |
(So had to use both) |
| 14:00 |
neostar |
anyone got an idea to my question, for MTB part 2, page 13? |
| 14:01 |
neostar |
Denyerec: what was is with uschi, I saw her on the channel yesterday but didn't have the time to follow her thread |
| 14:01 |
Denyerec |
She wants to have a repeatable UL as a content elements |
| 14:02 |
Denyerec |
*element |
| 14:02 |
Denyerec |
there's a method to create repeating elements or "sections" |
| 14:02 |
Denyerec |
but the problem comes when you want to put LI's inside a section UL |
| 14:02 |
Denyerec |
you need a section within a section. |
| 14:03 |
Denyerec |
And it was causing her a serious headache. |
| 14:03 |
neostar |
Denyerec: sounds a bit over my head atm ;) |
| 14:03 |
Denyerec |
TO be honest it seems to me to be a fairly common task to complete. |
| 14:04 |
Denyerec |
repeated lists |
| 14:04 |
neostar |
Denyerec: I guess, but I'm pretty new to TYPO3, that's why. Though I really like the structured approach |
| 14:25 |
ndee |
I start to love typo3 again |
| 14:35 |
Denyerec |
haha ndee |
| 14:35 |
Denyerec |
what were you working on? |
| 14:40 |
solshark |
Hello all. I'm use freeCap and want use only digits at captcha image. I create word-list with some digits, but it's isn't show on image. |
| 14:41 |
ndee |
Denyerec: I finally figured out today, how to make an own extension and put it on everypage, so you don't have to link it manually on every page :D |
| 14:41 |
ndee |
with Templavoila etc. |
| 14:41 |
ndee |
I know, that might be something simple for most of you guys but for me, that's an enormous step :D |
| 14:43 |
roelof |
dax77, a while ago i asked you for a extentension for pagionatoin, do you still know the name ? |
| 14:44 |
dax77 |
:) yes |
| 14:45 |
roelof |
can you tell me one more time what the name is ? |
| 14:50 |
dax77 |
roelof: cag_pagebrowser |
| 14:52 |
Denyerec |
Haha |
| 14:52 |

does anyone know where do you find documentation on flexforms? |
| 15:35 |

I found references to core api, but (1) cannot open the manual because openoffice keeps crashing (2) the html file does no seem to have references to flex forms |
| 15:36 |
pulponair |
eeos: have a look at the t3 wiki |
| 15:36 |
pulponair |
eeos: what kind of information are you looking for excatly? |
| 15:36 |
eeos |
pulponair read about flexforms |
| 15:37 |
eeos |
pulponair why the manual.sxw keep making my openoffice crash? |
| 15:37 |
eeos |
it is very annoying. |
| 15:37 |
pulponair |
eeos: update your openoffice to the most recent version.... |
| 15:37 |
pulponair |
eeos: some manuels are broken btw |
| 15:38 |
pulponair |
eh manuals ;) |

| 15:41 |
pulponair |
eeos: i eighter read the openoffice version or the pdf |
| 15:42 |
eeos |
pulponair pdf? there is no such thing, as far as I can see! |
| 15:42 |
pulponair |
eeos: about what extension are we talking? |
| 15:43 |
eeos |
typo3 core api |
| 15:43 |
pulponair |
ah ok |
| 15:43 |
pulponair |
eeos:try the html version |
| 15:45 |
dasmZ |
hi pulponair, how did it go with the a <xxx> img tag issue yesterday? solved it? |
| 15:45 |
pulponair |
dasmZ:yes |
| 15:46 |
smda |
pulponair: great. how did you do it then? :) |
| 15:47 |
pulponair |
dasmZ: got 3 solutions furthermore i wrote a small extension which adds stdwrap to the moste inner thing of a gmenu item. http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/nh_gmenu_plus/0.1.0/ |
| 15:48 |
pulponair |
smda: this can also be solved by using a tmenu and before/after image but this construction because very complex and isnt fully aware of rollovers ..same to a nolink=1 solution i tried |
| 15:49 |
smda |
ah. k. a bit odd that there where no stdwrap there already. a bit expected to be there right |
| 15:49 |
smda |
thanks for sharing |
| 15:50 |
pulponair |
smda: np ;) try it and gimme feedback |
| 15:51 |
pulponair |
smda: as mentioned before there is a solution which doesnt need an ext. but it isnt aware of rollovers |
| 15:52 |
smda |
yeah, and mostly when using gmenu you want the RO so its a pity. |
| 15:52 |
pulponair |
smda: and anotherone using a tmenu and adding images by hand but this one is also pretty annoying. so i thing the easiest way ist to use the extension since it is pretty small and quite straight forward |
| 15:54 |
pulponair |
smda: i included a small manual ...so you could have i look on how to use the ext |
| 15:58 |
smda |
pulponair: hehe.. the manual is 5 times larger then the actual extension. sweet :) |
| 16:01 |
pulponair |
smda: yes that is because i am such a nice guy ;) |
| 16:05 |
Denyerec |
Do any of you people work with dropdown / flyout menus ? |
| 16:07 |

Denyerec: only html based, but maybe that's what you mean? |
| 16:07 |
Denyerec |
Yeah |

Denyerec: I think Ries had a very nice example of dropdown menu on his site that I used.. |
| 16:10 |
smda |
Comes out like this http://www.kostalinne.se/index.php?id=16&L=1 |
| 16:11 |
Denyerec |
I am just finding out what people use |
| 16:11 |
Denyerec |
See theres an issue with every dropdown, where FORM elements will hover above the item |
| 16:12 |
smda |
I had some probs with flash on that site at first |

I have a small problem with tt_products.. On the normal product List it doesnt show the product image.. |
| 16:15 |
m4rtijn |
I used the following code: http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/extension-manuals/tut_ttproducts_de/0.0.6/view/1/11/ |
| 16:16 |
m4rtijn |
the "missing image" icon is shown only less then a second.. then it disappears and nothing is shown |
| 16:16 |
m4rtijn |
in the single view it works fine.. the image is shown |
| 16:17 |
m4rtijn |
im not sure if its the 'missing image' icon or smth else that is shown.. |
| 16:22 |
Irix |
I have a small problem.. I want to show the date and time on each content in a page.. I have therefore created temp.date_content which get the crdate... my problem is that I can't remember to wrap this properly around tt_content |
| 16:29 |
m4rtijn |
why dont u use an html template and set a ###date### marker in the footer.. then use typoscript to fill it? |
| 16:37 |
Denyerec |
OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW |

eeos |
hi there. |
| 16:50 |
eeos |
is there ay document around explaining what are flexforms and how do they work? I have read FTB and am using TYPO3 core api, but do not really undestand. |
| 16:51 |
Denyerec |
flexforms scare me |
| 16:51 |
eeos |
Denyerec +1 |
| 16:52 |
Denyerec |
Denyerec++ even |
| 16:52 |
Denyerec |
I think the total is much higher ;) |
| 16:52 |
eeos |
the problem is there is not a single page of documentation explaining what they really are. :( |
| 16:53 |
Irix |
not even the extension documents ? |
| 16:54 |
ndee |
eeos: http://www.ndee.ch/typo3/2006/10/17/flexforms-in-your-own-frontend-plugin/ |
| 16:54 |
ndee |
that might help a little bit ;) |
| 16:54 |
eeos |
well, that is not referenced anywhere. |
| 16:54 |
eeos |
FTB explicitly says to use core api. |
| 16:54 |
eeos |
:(:(:(:( |
| 16:55 |
eeos |
and the core api manual is broken, so you have to do a double smersault to open it. |
| 16:55 |
eeos |
:(:(::( |
| 16:55 |
eeos |
ndee it does not relly explain you what flexforms are. |
| 16:56 |
eeos |
but thaaaaanks anyway. better than nothing. |
| 16:57 |
eeos |
does that help anyone http://www.flexform.it/? |
| 17:01 |
ndee |
eeos: nope, not really, just how to use some of it in your own extension, did you check out the wiki link? |
| 17:01 |
ndee |
http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Extension_Development,_using_Flexforms |
| 17:02 |
ndee |
so far as I understand it, flexforms for an extension is a better way to store settings but don't quote me on that ;) |
| 17:02 |
eeos |
ndee yes, but it was not very helpful |
| 17:03 |
ndee |
so if you need to configure something, you can do that in the flexform, rather than hardcode it in the extension or in another configuration file in the extension directory. |
| 17:04 |
ndee|afk |
later |

huh |
| 17:27 |

OK, n00b stuff... I try to import extensions... nothing happens... returns a blank screen |
| 17:27 |
j0hndeere |
troubleshooting, anyone? |
| 17:32 |
Denyerec |
Yeah |
| 17:32 |
Denyerec |
PHP version. |
| 17:32 |
Denyerec |
which one you on |
| 17:36 |
uschi |
hi folks :)) |
| 17:36 |
andreasbalzer |
hi uschi :) |
| 17:36 |
uschi |
i just had bad news in the tv-newsgroup |
| 17:37 |
uschi |
hi andreasbalzer , Denyerec and Ries and Boonkerz and dax77 |
| 17:37 |
Denyerec |
hey uschi |
| 17:37 |
dax77 |
hi uschi :) |
| 17:37 |
Denyerec |
Whats the bad news? |
| 17:37 |
Denyerec |
: |
| 17:37 |
Denyerec |
:/ |
| 17:37 |
Denyerec |
OH WAIT |
| 17:37 |
Denyerec |
I signed to the mailling list. |
| 17:37 |
uschi |
Dimitry Dupelov answered |
| 17:37 |
Boonkerz |
which news? |
| 17:37 |
Boonkerz |
hi |
| 17:37 |
uschi |
Typo3 does not allow section as a direct child of section |
| 17:39 |
uschi |
and even dimitry has no idea how to solve the problem *sniff* |
| 17:40 |
uschi |
so i have to find a workaround |
| 17:41 |
uschi |
is there a ts-way to show the content-elements of one page? |
| 17:42 |
j0hndeere |
Denyerec: we're running PHP5 |
| 17:43 |
j0hndeere |
in fact, this install's on the same server as several other installs that worked fine in this regard... I suspect something in the install is causing it |
| 17:43 |
uschi |
in another content-element? |
| 17:44 |
Denyerec |
Which version of php5 |
| 17:44 |
Denyerec |
ohh |
| 17:44 |
Denyerec |
new version of tt_news ? |
| 17:46 |
uschi |
i saw it this morning |
| 17:47 |
Denyerec |
uschi what was your bad news? |
| 17:47 |
uschi |
that it seems to be impossible what i want |
| 17:47 |
uschi |
if even dimitry is not sure how to do it |
| 17:47 |
Denyerec |
I am guessing dmitry is a TV expert? |
| 17:48 |
uschi |
he is the main developer meanwhile |
| 17:48 |
uschi |
so he knows the ins and outs of tv by heart |
| 17:48 |
uschi |
it is not the fault of tv by the way, but of typo3 itself |
| 17:49 |
j0hndeere |
actually... there's not even any button for connecting to online repository... hmm |
| 17:50 |
Denyerec |
:( |
| 17:50 |
Boonkerz |
uschi, i think robert lemke is the main dev from TV |
| 17:50 |
uschi |
yes, but dimitry does a lot of development because robert has no time |
| 17:50 |
j0hndeere |
well... there's the retrieve/update... but it doesn't do anything |
| 17:54 |
Denyerec |
Hey chaps |
| 17:54 |
Denyerec |
Is there a way to replicate content from a remote site? |
| 17:54 |
Denyerec |
Say I have a central site... |
| 17:54 |
Denyerec |
Is there a way to hook other sites pages or content elements to this remote site, so they mirror the content and monitor for changes? |
| 17:54 |
Denyerec |
I notice there's an extension called tt_news_replicator that does that for tt_news |
| 17:54 |
Denyerec |
But one for normal content would be *huge* |
| 17:55 |
Denyerec |
where huge == good |
| 17:56 |
a7p |
mpf, why can't TYPO3 be written in python? *seufz* |
| 17:56 |
Denyerec |
Go play with Drool |
| 17:56 |
Denyerec |
or whatever that Python framework's called |
| 17:56 |
Denyerec |
Django |
| 17:56 |
Denyerec |

| 17:57 |
Denyerec |
ALllllllllllllso, can anyone tell me what has happened to this man's typo installation: |

a7p |
but T3 is soo kewl |

Denyerec |
that's a URL and a half |
| 17:57 |
a7p |
and I like Kaspars Podcasts *g* |
| 17:57 |
Denyerec |
he appears to have some neat toolbar at the top |
| 17:57 |
Denyerec |
saving him space. |
| 17:57 |
uschi |
so do i, a7p |
| 17:58 |
Denyerec |
I've watched a lot of the podcasts, Kasper's quite an inspirational guy |
| 17:59 |
uschi |
a7p, can you tell me where you get the code listings for some of those podcasts? |
| 17:59 |
uschi |
kasper says, they exist, and i am interested in one or the other |
| 17:59 |
a7p |
uschi, no, I cannot ... never looked for them. |
| 18:00 |
Denyerec |
Ar eyou looking at the same podcasts as me ? |
| 18:00 |
Denyerec |
Things like "Update your site bob" and such ? |
| 18:00 |
uschi |
yes, just downloading it |
| 18:00 |
Denyerec |
Hey dasmZ - quick Q for you |
| 18:00 |
Denyerec |
dasmZ ? ffs |
| 18:00 |
Denyerec |
dax77 |
| 18:01 |
uschi |
it is in the tv-podcast that he says it |
| 18:01 |
dax77 |
dasmZ? |
| 18:01 |
uschi |
What's wrong with those podcasts for you |
| 18:01 |
Denyerec |
Tab cheated you |
| 18:01 |
dax77 |
ts ts ;) |
| 18:01 |
Denyerec |
hhe |
| 18:01 |
uschi |
his keyboard is drunken, dax77 |
| 18:01 |
Denyerec |
Dax do you know of any extensions that allow content elements to update automatically from a centralised store? |
| 18:01 |
dax77 |
I've been created by a tab *lol* |
| 18:02 |
Denyerec |
EG having a whole bunch of franchise websites, that update their content based on a master site |
| 18:02 |
dax77 |
Denyerec: nope, sorry |
| 18:02 |
uschi |
well this is something not everyone can say about himself, dax77 |
| 18:02 |
dax77 |
Denyerec: if you have all websites in one tree I have a soltion for you |
| 18:02 |
Denyerec |
references? |
| 18:02 |
dax77 |
solution |
| 18:03 |
dax77 |
correct |
| 18:03 |
Denyerec |
INdeed |
| 18:03 |
Denyerec |
Perhaps the solution for multiple franchised websites is to do just that. |
| 18:03 |
dax77 |
tv offers that to you |
| 18:03 |
Denyerec |
? |
| 18:03 |
dax77 |
templavoila |
| 18:16 |
Denyerec |
How does TV explicitly offer that to me ? |
| 18:17 |
Denyerec |
Sorry, but I have never used anything other than TV, so I don't know what's TV features and what isn't!! |
| 18:23 |
Denyerec |

| 18:24 |
Denyerec |
What BE interface is this? |
| 18:24 |
Denyerec |
I demand to know!! |
| 18:24 |
andreasbalzer |
Deyerec: It's a working skin by Lasse Norby |
| 18:24 |
andreasbalzer |
it was never published, because it's using heavy XCLASS |
| 18:24 |
andreasbalzer |
and it's somewhere in the design mailinglist |
| 18:25 |
Denyerec |
Man |
| 18:25 |
Denyerec |
it looks 100x better than the current one. |
| 18:25 |
andreasbalzer |
and it won't find its way into T3 i guess.. |
| 18:25 |
andreasbalzer |
but you might see the future of T3 in the hci list |
| 18:25 |
Denyerec |
:( |
| 18:26 |
andreasbalzer |
there's a pdf with many many possible skin options for 5.0 |
| 18:26 |
Denyerec |
Are there any current BE interface options for 4.x ? |
| 18:26 |
andreasbalzer |
and those skin will blow you away :D |
| 18:26 |
andreasbalzer |
yes |
| 18:26 |
Denyerec |
I saw one with themenu at the top. |
| 18:26 |
Denyerec |
this would save screen width, which is good |
| 18:26 |
Denyerec |
Got the names of some good ones on the Ext manager? |
| 18:26 |
andreasbalzer |
you might want to test 4.1 RC1 and have a look at kaspers dashboard extension |
| 18:26 |
andreasbalzer |
or you can use Tapio's skin_grey |
| 18:29 |
Denyerec |
dashboard extension |
| 18:29 |
Denyerec |
I'm on 4.1 RC2 |
| 18:30 |
andreasbalzer |
ah ok. there's a dashboard ext by Kasper somewhere around and you might want to have a look at dev list too. There's an ajax tab menu interface |
| 18:30 |
Denyerec |
Crumbs |
| 18:30 |
Denyerec |
how many mailling lists do I have to be on?! :) |

andreasbalzer |
typo3 5... |
| 18:31 |

| 18:31 |

so i'm basically on nearly every mailinglist.. |

Denyerec |
Mein Deutsche ist shreklich |

Denyerec |
or... something. |
| 18:31 |
andreasbalzer |
shreklich --> schrecklich ;) |
| 18:34 |
Denyerec |
Told you ;) |
| 18:34 |
Denyerec |
Do you happen to know the name of kaspers extension ? |
| 18:34 |
Denyerec |
I can't seem to find it. |
| 18:35 |
voidus[busy] |
which extension? |
| 18:35 |
Denyerec |
Dashboard? |
| 18:35 |
Denyerec |
I'm looking for a horizontal BE menu |
| 18:35 |
Denyerec |
I saw one earlier and can't find out what it was. |

Then I saw this |
| 18:36 |
Denyerec |
and andreas tells me its not available :( |
| 18:38 |
andreasbalzer |
Denyerec: but currently dashboard is far away from beeing a useful ext ;) |
| 18:39 |
Denyerec |
DOh. |
| 18:39 |
andreasbalzer |
if you only want to use tab menus (and can live with an other skin), use skin_grey |
| 18:39 |
Denyerec |
Mmm, I was rather hoping that I could get the menu without the rest of the skin :/ |
| 18:39 |
Denyerec |
I don't like Skin Grey at all |
| 18:43 |
Denyerec |
hmpf hmpf hmpf. |

| 18:45 |
Denyerec |
yeah thats wankered in Opera. |
| 18:45 |
andreasbalzer |
the problem is, that tabbed menu is still something new which has to be explored and tested.. but it will definitly find its way into T3 in terms of usuability |
| 18:54 |
Denyerec |
Hmm. |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
Well it doesn't bother me *personally*, but it'd make selling to clients much easier if the BE looked prettier :D |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
Seems it's pretty hard to get involved with Typo5 development too... |
| 18:55 |
andreasbalzer |
no.. not really |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
Not that I could be of much use right now I don't think, my coding sucks pretty hrad. |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
*hard |
| 18:56 |
Denyerec |
and I don't understand the majority of concepts they talk about |
| 18:56 |
andreasbalzer |
e.g. it's very simple to join the hci team and the design team.. |
| 18:56 |
andreasbalzer |
(e.g. skin team) |
| 18:59 |
johnd0e |
hi everyone |
| 19:02 |
johnd0e |
I'm looking for a way to hide part of the pagetree from a BE user group. all BE groups are based on a base BE group. a subgroup of this base group must not see one part of the pagetree. any ideas/hints on how to accomplish that? |
| 19:02 |
johnd0e |
any help would be greatly appreciated |
| 19:06 |
Denyerec |
andreasbalzer I don't see a design mailling list. |
| 19:14 |
dasmZ |
Denyerec: so you didn't really want me anything? :( |
| 19:14 |
dasmZ |
I thought I was select. a chosen one. |
| 19:14 |
Denyerec |
Well |
| 19:15 |
Denyerec |
unless you know an extension that can allow sites to accept "Pushed" or updated content from a master site? |
| 19:15 |
Denyerec |
So a bunch of franchises could have centrally administered content, or choose to "break loose" and write their own pages if they wanted. |
| 19:16 |
dasmZ |
eh.. that's like typical setup with TV and localization? |
| 19:17 |
dasmZ |
I've done that having english as default and other languages as alternatives. and using fallback against default. While on pages not available in default checked as "hide defaul bla bla.." |
| 19:17 |
dasmZ |
maybe that's not waterproof enough? |
| 19:18 |
smda |
ah.. myself again. better.. |
| 19:18 |
smda |
it's a bit wierd when the other me comes out. no control over him |
| 19:20 |
smda |
Denyerec: btw did you find the design list? it's there, but sadly inactive.. last post is 10 of january and before that 11 of december :( |
| 19:20 |
Denyerec |
No I didn't smda, it wasn't listd on the typo3 site. |
| 19:20 |
Denyerec |
Maybe the discussions have moved to hci ? |
| 19:21 |
smda |
yeah. could be |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
Also I don't know if you understand me |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
or if I don't understand you. |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
Imagine McDonalds using Typo3 |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
They have a central website |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
and lots of franchises. |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
so the franchise site gets a new Typo3 site on their own space. |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
And the content is linked "live" to the main site. |
| 19:21 |
Denyerec |
If the main site update, so does the franchise site. |
| 19:22 |
smda |
aha. I see now. then I'm totaly off topic ;) |
| 19:22 |
Denyerec |
But at any point the franchise can "Break loose" and turn off the update creating a local copy they can then update themselves. |
| 19:22 |
Denyerec |
Now of course if all the sites exist within the same pagetree this is possible |
| 19:22 |
Denyerec |
BUT I don't think Typo3 could support 300 franchise websites in the same pagetree |
| 19:22 |
Denyerec |
I'm sure it would choke and die. |
| 19:23 |
Denyerec |
I sure as hell wouldn't want to log in as admin!! :) |
| 19:23 |
smda |
:D now way |
| 19:24 |
Denyerec |
Indeed. |
| 19:24 |
Denyerec |
So I'm basically talking about some kind of remote page/content element reference |
| 19:26 |
smda |
on the other hand I guess the 300 franchise websites would probably as you say use same tree for everyone apart from just a few pages.. that wouldn't probably be more than a couple of thousand unique pages aprox :) |
| 19:28 |
Denyerec |
It would still be insane. |
| 19:28 |
smda |
for sure ;) |
| 19:28 |
Denyerec |
inserting a content element into the franchise site that connects to the master page to check for updates would be cool. |
| 19:28 |
Denyerec |
or insert a page of type "remote page" |
| 19:28 |
Denyerec |
which would copy the page from the master site. |
| 19:28 |
smda |
m. sounds like a delicous issue to solve |

Denyerec |
a t3x export could be used to wrap up the page. |
| 19:31 |
smda |
hmm.. but.. - I'm on deep water now, extending my limited t3 knowledge, but .. you can have multiple websites in one installation right? and you can do soft refererenses of contents I think? (thinking of the old way of doing localization). |
| 19:31 |
smda |
Then wouldn't it be possible to build it that way? (in some extends..) |
| 19:31 |
Denyerec |
multiple sites can reference the same T3 source |
| 19:32 |
Denyerec |
but each site would have its own DB |
| 19:32 |
Denyerec |
*unless* you put all the sites in the same tree |
| 19:32 |
Denyerec |
Which we already decided would be madness. |
| 19:32 |
smda |
yeah. thought they didn't have to be in the same tree |
| 19:43 |
smda |
hm.. Denyerec I think having all in one tree is doable? I mean, the only one that would ever have access to the entire tree is the SA and that could of benifits having every site on the same place, while the other site admins would only have access to the main site plus their own extra parts..? It would be sad if a ~2000 pages would be a performance issue for T3. |
| 19:43 |
Denyerec |
True. |
| 19:44 |
Denyerec |
Franchise owners then would not need their own websites / hosting. |
| 19:44 |
smda |
exactly. and the company group sa has total control over information, security, visual id etc.. |
| 19:46 |
smda |
well.. good luck with it whatever you go for. cya |

I have a question about creating a hierarchical menu: I have 2 levels and now I want that when the user clicks on one element of the first level that the elements of the second level appear but that the elements of the first level disappear. how is it possible to make the elements of the first level disappear? |

jpk |
Hi guys. |
| 21:15 |
jpk |
Is there any way to convice Typo3 to generate Carriage Returns after list items in TMENUs? |
| 21:15 |
jpk |
Right now all wrapped items appear in one large row. |
| 21:15 |
jpk |
This is hard to read and debug... |
| 21:25 |
bedlamhotel |
jpk: you can set up 'tidy' in the install tool (which will format source code). There are also a couple of 'tidy' extensions in the TER. |
| 21:34 |
jpk |
bedlamhotel: Thanks will have a look at that! |
| 21:40 |
jpk |
yeah that was it. Helped a lot. Thanks! |

It'll be something to do with \n |
| 22:01 |
Denyerec |
Generating accessible menus with Typo3 is mad. |
| 22:01 |
Denyerec |
Trying to insert accesskeys and failling very badly |
| 22:07 |
hagus |
Why is it that this channel has so many nicks but nobody speaks? |
| 22:08 |
j0hndeere |
it's not really a chatroom |
| 22:08 |
hagus |
:) |
| 22:08 |
j0hndeere |
people ask TYPO3 questions and, if they're lucky, someone answers them |
| 22:08 |
j0hndeere |
I just sit here to absorb TYPO3 wisdom |
| 22:08 |
hagus |
lol |
| 22:10 |
hagus |
From my experiments with 4.1, although it works a little better with php5.2, it still does not do things like allow me to clear the two caches. |
| 22:11 |
hagus |
I have typo3 on two different sites - one where the php version is lower than 5.2 and the other where the php is 5.2 |
| 22:11 |
hagus |
The pre php5.2 site works grand even with 4.0 whatever it is. |
| 22:12 |
hagus |
I just hope that the php5.2 people or the typo3 people or both will hurry up and fix whatever the glitches are between the two things. |
| 22:15 |
hagus |
I have been giving WordPress a try and I find it easy to work with but typo3 is still way out ahead. |
| 22:16 |
hagus |
Guess WordPress was not intended to be a CMS even though it has some CMS like features. |
| 22:16 |
hagus |
So, maybe comparing the two is not fair. |
| 22:16 |
smda |
not really :) |
| 22:22 |
hagus |
I was asked to reproduce an existing typo3 site at a location hosted by folk who installed php5.2 a couple of months ago. As the site to be ported was fairly small, I elected to use WordPress to recreate something that looked comparable to the original. |
| 22:22 |
hagus |
I tried using their fantastico version of typo3 but the two cache options at the bottom left of the typo3 screen were not allowed :( |
| 22:23 |
hagus |
So, I resorted to what I reckon was the fastest fix until things advance more either on the typo3 front or on the php front :) |
| 22:26 |
hagus |
Well, enough of my monologue! Time for me to think about heading for my scratcher. |
| 22:27 |
tansta |
i heard Kasper has made a gallery extensions call thumbgallery, is it release yet ? |
| 22:29 |
hagus |
I do not know, tansta - sorry. |
| 22:30 |
hagus |
When I do a google search for it - it comes up with all kinds of unsavoury links :( |
| 22:30 |
tansta |
hagus: its was demonstrated in one of his podcast |
| 22:30 |
hagus |
ah :) |
| 22:30 |
tansta |

| 22:38 |
ndee |
how can I get the current sys_language_uid in my own extension? |
| 22:42 |
smda |
ndee: something like $GLOBALS['TSFE']->sys_language_uid |
| 22:44 |
ndee |
smda: found it :D |
| 22:44 |
smda |
good :) |
| 22:46 |
ndee |
do you also know how I can make in my own extension a form with GET-variables? When I have an element like <select name="tx_dealersearch_pi1[city]">, it won't show correct after I have submited the form |
| 22:46 |
ndee |
it will break the braces |
| 22:59 |
jsfan |

| 22:59 |

jsfan |

| 23:10 |
Ries |
yes |
| 23:10 |
jsfan |
what do you think? |
| 23:11 |
jsfan |
the dbal stuff is a fair comment, i reckon... |
| 23:11 |
Ries |
I am thinking how I can install my own LaTeX fonts.... |
| 23:11 |
Ries |
jsfan: I think that typo3 needs database drivers rather then DBAL.... |
| 23:11 |
tansta |
what thread ? how come i dont see any ? |
| 23:12 |
jsfan |
ries, hm, might be a good idea, too. but would it make this particular problem any easier? |
| 23:12 |
tansta |
oh now i see :) |
| 23:25 |
tansta |
does anybody know if pb_survey are able to sent the survey result to an email after someone has fill it out ? |
| 23:26 |
Ries |
jsfan: Well, you asked what I thought.... |
| 23:34 |
Denyerec |
jsfan |
| 23:35 |
Denyerec |
I am back |
| 23:35 |
Denyerec |
did you want something ? |
| 23:35 |
jsfan |
Ries, but do you think it would help with this problem? |
| 23:35 |
jsfan |
Denyerec, i was only wondering if you were here. |
| 23:41 |
Ries |
jsfan: I think it would help... indexed search sux anyways and anything to improve it it will help |
| 23:42 |
jsfan |
yes, but with a driver you would still have to find a generic api that's common to all drivers. which would make you unable to use some mysql features. |
| 23:43 |
tansta |
hehehe |
| 23:43 |
tansta |
i need a new job |
| 23:43 |
tansta |
i am sick of my job |
| 23:43 |
tansta |

| 23:52 |
Denyerec |
Cubecart? :) |
| 23:52 |
Denyerec |
Ries |
| 23:53 |
Denyerec |
you never answered me the other night about how to integrate that search system you were talking about with a typo site |
| 23:53 |
Ries |
jsfan: The driver should encapsulate the features underlaying object provides |
| 23:53 |
Ries |
jsfan: one of the functions could be search... |
| 23:54 |
Ries |
then the undelraying drivers knows how to perform it |
