07:01 Stonki hello, I am looking for a simple extension sending form mails but with username, email already filled in from the FE User list. Any ideas ?
07:02 FloLeBlanc stonki: the first way that would come to my mind is use mailformplus, go into code set value = $GLOBALS['TSFE']->fe_user->user['telephone']; :)
07:02 FloLeBlanc äh email of course not telephone :)

07:21 tsrepadmin I'm using realurl with a multitemplate setup. so there is a rootpage where a couple of domains are into. and then every domain has it own template. realurl is only working correctly, if i set rootpage_id of pagePath in localconf.php to one of the domain rootpages. if i set it to the top root, it's not working. why?

09:31 Jigal pesz: you could use a tool like https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/3829 (Live HTTP headers) to view what gets send to the webserver and what the response is. I don't know what kind of file you are trying to use, but some file formats only contain meta-information that the browser may interpret and then it might fail during the attempt to load the reverred information...
09:31 pesz eeos: file is allowed to be read for anyone, and i succeeded copying it to my pc
09:33 pesz Jigal: i use exactly the same browser on the same computer: it works on my localhost, and it does not work on the remote site

09:35 Jigal pesz: and the localhost and the remote machine are identical (hardware, software, settings?)
09:36 m4rtijn if I make a navigation with images.. but dont want to hadcode every single menu item.. instead give the customer an easy access to change the pictures for the navigation.. how would I go aboujt doing that?
09:36 voidus m4rtijn: each page have field "files"
09:37 voidus m4rtijn: you can store images in that field and render them in menu
09:38 pesz Jigal: no, both apply apache and typo3 4.1.1, but local is ms win xp, server is gentoo linux

10:13 lenix what's the recommended way to provide a 3-dropdowns element for selecting a date?
10:16 Denyerec I tend to like the ones that you can add in to typo, where it pops up a calendar, or lets you just enter a date like 2007-07-09
10:16 Denyerec The drop-down approach requires javascript anyway to adjust the "day" field for the selected month, which is a bit hokey

10:24 lenix Denyerec: but it's the best approach to build upon using js imho, and next to this it is internationalized by giving the <select> items appropriate <labels>

10:25 Denyerec Certainly
10:26 Denyerec Though I still prefer typing dates in yyyy-mm-dd format
10:26 Denyerec Just my personal preference

10:37 Jigal pesz: look for the GET lines (correct path, correct lower/uppercase use) for the the file you want to download/open in the browser and the following response from the server code, length, etc.

10:47 Jigal Denyerec: to reduce user input errors I prefer a (popup) calendar with hidden text field which degrades nicely to a normal text field for incapable browsers. Loads of these things are available...
10:47 m4rtijn voidus still here?
10:47 Denyerec I know Jig, lenix was looking out for one.
10:48 voidus m4rtijn: yes
10:48 Denyerec Let the popup fill the textfield
10:48 m4rtijn would you know the TS code to access these files in advanced pages?
10:49 Jigal Denyerec: most Ajax toolkits have nice calendars; e.g. YahooUI (http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/calendar/)

10:56 pesz Jigal: if i download form local there is a valid GET line, but when from server nothing happens, no GET line anyway
10:56 voidus anyone interested in http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Object_Persistence_Framework ?

11:11 Jigal lenix: I don't know if there is a solution in TYPO3 (I can't find anything for this in the TypoScript form validation), you could always write an extension to handle your forms ;-)
11:13 Jigal pesz: HTML source, browser cache settings (although I doubt that Firefox does strange things here).

11:21 Jigal pesz: if you see no GET line appearing then there is simply no request from browser to server, so it can't be the servers fault not to handle a non-existing request. So inspect HTML source, is there javascript that somehow prevents the request? There must be something wrong there if no request is sent to the server...

11:51 flo_ps hi guys
11:58 FloLeBlanc does anyone know if I can use the tslib FORM function to create a checkboxarray and save it in the db like the usergroups blob?
11:58 FloLeBlanc f.e: for weekdays (I can drink coffee on monday, wednesday, thursday)
11:59 eeos FloLeBlanc: what do you drink the other days?
11:59 flo_ps lol
11:59 FloLeBlanc eeos: that is very helpful thank you :)

12:00 snowgirl I have is there a list of know extensions incompatible with realurl?
12:00 snowgirl Forget 'I have'
12:00 flo_ps why not FloLeBlanc? do you want to extend the usergroups?
12:01 FloLeBlanc no I want to extend smallads which already uses the FORM function of tslib but I don't want a database with monday: true, tuesday: false, etc. but a db with weekdays: Mo|Wed|Fr
12:02 FloLeBlanc or a reason why this would be a bad idea :)
12:03 Allergie hu? well it could only be used on earth and not in others planets. I'm right? ;)
12:03 FloLeBlanc hehe
12:04 mikhas hi. what is the ie.css (sometimes (always?) referenced in the html used for?

12:11 mikhas well I can't really find any reference to it (ie.css).. maybe it's connectec with templavoila somehow
12:11 fred^ so, whats up with realurl cache being wierd and buggy. as in, when it gets updated ( i believe thats when it happends), it does not count all pages. so some urls give errors even though the site exists and should be availible.
12:12 fred^ maybe, mikhas
12:12 fred^ i have not noticed it
12:12 fred^ probaly part of your template?
12:13 mikhas ah... that was it. I didn't create the template so I didn't expect this.
12:14 eeos sorry FloLeBlanc, I did not know the answer, I would have given it to you if I had it. Why do not createan extension adding the 7 fields to a table in the db?

13:06 Jigal FloLeBlanc having a birthday as a UNIX timestamp is a bad idea in general, unless the object is a file (but then you call it the creation day) ;-)
13:07 FloLeBlanc someone tried to explain to me why this is good some time ago but I hate it.. everytime I want to do something with the date everything gets complicated... why didn't you use a date field you t3 gods *shakes fist*
13:09 ries_away FloLeBlanc: because it isn't a good idea???
13:09 ries_away flo_ps: it can only work (I believe) if you install ghostscript

13:10 FloLeBlanc ries: but it is present as that :(
13:11 ries_away FloLeBlanc: I do remember there was an solution for it.....
13:11 Jigal The range of a UNIX timestamp is currently far too limited to be useful as a date of birth...
13:11 ries_away since quite a number of people are older then 28 years by now
13:11 FloLeBlanc ries yes there is an extra class that helps
13:11 FloLeBlanc but it's complicated, I just want to complain sorry :)
13:11 ries_away Jigal: agreed....
13:12 ries_away The whole 'let's store dates as unix timestamps' has a looong history
13:12 ries_away and I believe it's MySQL's fault in the beginning who didn't support proper timestamps, but only integers
13:12 ries_away so many many many programmers thought it was a good idea to store date as unix timestamps
13:13 Jigal The only advantage I can think of is that you can calculate date differences easily because you measure things in seconds. But to convert it to anything useful takes a lot of work.
13:13 m4rtijn hmm.. any idea why this appears if I try to change a user:
13:13 m4rtijn Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /../typo3conf/ext/static_info_tables/class.tx_staticinfotables_syslanguage.php on line 43
13:13 ries_away Jigal: I don't believe that is an advantage.... I believe it's more of a dis advantage
13:14 Jigal ries, I think that PHP has more problems handling "proper" dates than MySQL. PHP needs to convert it to timestamps to do anything useful with it.
13:14 ries_away I think it's only usefull for storing intervals

13:15 FloLeBlanc argh... dividing by (3600 * 24 * 365) is actually a stupid idea because there are years with 366 days isn't it
13:15 Jigal ries: yes, comparing intervals is as easy as integer math, but for the rest... :-(
13:17 Jigal More or less recent versions of MySQL have many functions for handling dates/times, so I prefer to store dates/times/datetimes in the proper MySQL field types.
13:17 Jigal m4rtijn: PHP5?
13:18 ries_away I don't know much about MySQL actually... but for PostgreSQL I always do it like that

19:56 FloLeBlanc hi all
19:59 voidus FloLeBlanc: hi
20:05 FloLeBlanc can anyone tell me how to require a file in /fileadmin from an extension? (path prefix..) do I have to change all the directories with ../../../fileadmin/etc. ?
20:05 FloLeBlanc hi voidus
20:05 voidus FloLeBlanc: require php file?
20:05 voidus or template file?
20:05 FloLeBlanc you know the require('filename.php') clause
20:06 FloLeBlanc in the code of the extension
20:06 voidus i think, fileadmin should not contain php files..
20:06 FloLeBlanc oh so where would I store the adodb_time libary to access it from extensions?
20:07 voidus in the subfolder of your extension, or in separate extension, or in special place if it's PEAR package..
20:08 FloLeBlanc well the point is due to the fe_users table storing timestamps I need the adodb_time libary in multiple extensions :)
20:08 voidus so, it's logical to make it separate extension

20:12 voidus FloLeBlanc: but you talk it's _library_.. so it is stable and unchanged, i think?
20:14 FloLeBlanc sorry perhaps I expressed myself wrong: I have f.e. the extension smallads and want to add username and userage to the extension, to do this I have to edit the extension and to show the date I have to require the stable library adodb_time.php in the extension file

20:45 voidus skurfuerst: hello
20:45 elbart ah, he's here
20:47 FloLeBlanc voidus: I do not want to add fields but change the behaviour of the extension :)
20:47 voidus FloLeBlanc: so you need to XCLASS it or use hooks

20:48 FloLeBlanc if the ext provides no hooks by default, what to do?
20:51 voidus FloLeBlanc: XCLASS it
20:51 voidus or make fork extension, what is (i think) is not recommended
20:52 FloLeBlanc voidus: could you link me on a page what XCLASS'ing is and how it works please?
20:53 voidus FloLeBlanc: hm.. I am not sure that such page exists. but i can explain it myself
20:54 FloLeBlanc thank you
20:54 voidus FloLeBlanc: there is a rule in the T3 codelines: do not use 'new' operator, only t3lib_div::makeInstance
20:51 voidus FloLeBlanc: XCLASS it
20:51 voidus or make fork extension, what is (i think) is not recommended

20:53 voidus FloLeBlanc: hm.. I am not sure that such page exists. but i can explain it myself
20:54 FloLeBlanc thank you
20:54 voidus FloLeBlanc: there is a rule in the T3 codelines: do not use 'new' operator, only t3lib_div::makeInstance
20:55 voidus this method gives an class name, for example, tx_ttnews_pi1
20:55 voidus then it checks if there defined class with name ux_tx_ttnews_pi1
20:56 voidus if it defined, t3lib_div::makeInstance make instance of this class instead of original
20:57 voidus usually ux_ class is derived class from base class without ux_ prefix
20:58 voidus you can see in most T3 files at the end of file 3 strings like
20:58 voidus if (defined('TYPO3_MODE') && $TYPO3_CONF_VARS[TYPO3_MODE]['XCLASS']['t3lib/class.t3lib_install.php']) {
20:58 voidus include_once($TYPO3_CONF_VARS[TYPO3_MODE]['XCLASS']['t3lib/class.t3lib_install.php']);
20:58 voidus }
20:58 voidus these lines is for XCLASSing
20:59 voidus so, you write in your ext_localconf.php file something like $TYPO3_CONF_VARS[TYPO3_MODE]['XCLASS']['t3lib/class.t3lib_db.php'] = t3lib_extMgm::extPath('myextension').'class.ux_t3lib_db.php';
20:55 voidus this method gives an class name, for example, tx_ttnews_pi1

21:00 voidus and your file XCLASSes needed class
21:00 voidus FloLeBlanc: that's all :)
21:01 FloLeBlanc *scratches his head* and the extensions call this by default therefore to extend an existing extension I'd have to create an ux_ file in the same dir did I catch this correct? and then what just extend the class or write it new?
21:04 voidus FloLeBlanc: it's not mandatory to locate and name _file_ with ux_ prefix and same directory. but your class _must_ have ux_ prefix and _should_ extend base class
21:04 FloLeBlanc ok now we have the scenario a new version of the old extension comes out.. does this keep my ux_ version?

21:05 voidus yes, it keep your ux_ version (if it is located in separate extension, and file with base class still exist, and class was not renamed :)
21:06 voidus and that is a problem - some extension extend core class, then core had changed, and extension become incompatible with new version of T3 and can even break whole T3
21:07 FloLeBlanc hmm... ok thank you for the information
21:08 FloLeBlanc I have to admit that I already have tampered too much (especially with fe_user_register) to change everything to the correct way now *ashamed*

21:15 FloLeBlanc hopefully the last question if you don't mind I managed to calculate with the negative timestamps and convert them now
21:15 FloLeBlanc but how can I calculate the age of a user including leap years now without writing a huge func :)
21:15 FloLeBlanc can php just substract dates made with mktime?
21:16 FloLeBlanc äh date
21:16 FloLeBlanc not mktime
21:16 voidus hm.. dunno..
21:16 FloLeBlanc the problem is if I just substract the unix timestamps from each other I loose the leap year info hmm
21:16 FloLeBlanc ok thx anyway :)
21:16 voidus you want to operate with dates before 1970?
21:17 FloLeBlanc yes as typo3 does with negative timestamps
21:18 FloLeBlanc the adodb date time library came quite handy.. now I only have to calculate the age of users :)
21:19 voidus FloLeBlanc: hm.. i think T3 does not work with negatime timestamps..

21:21 FloLeBlanc voidus: I'm quite sure t3 does :)
21:21 FloLeBlanc already fixed anemo_fe_user_admin to work with the dates
21:22 FloLeBlanc where fixed means "messed it up by not doing it the xclass way" *G*
21:23 voidus FloLeBlanc: i cannot create tt_news record if date < 1970
21:24 FloLeBlanc voidus: that's an interesting point.. perhaps I missed the fact that my edits of anemo_feuser_admin enables the admin to set the dates prior to 1970, but forgot that the default sr_fe_userregister cannot do that hmm
21:24 ries anybody know if there is a tutorial on how to use prototype in teh BE of typo3?

21:25 FloLeBlanc voidus: hmm no I would have recognized that
21:25 FloLeBlanc voidus: I guess if you can use negative timestamps prior to 1970 is handled by the extensions themselves.. the db just stores the string anyway
21:26 FloLeBlanc ries: not me sorry
21:27 voidus ries: i think, there is no such manual
21:28 voidus FloLeBlanc: no. DB stores integer date, at first
21:28 voidus FloLeBlanc: than, in TCA, 'eval' => 'date' cause that JS breaks dates before 1970

21:57 voidus kezze: install 'kikstarter' extension
21:57 FloLeBlanc briareos1: not heard of any of these yet but I can tell you that we had problems with ankhSVN + tortoise in Visual Studio :)
