I'm a bit surprised that the INSTALL.TXT for Typo3 specifies that Typo3 must have MySQL |
| 16:26 |

It can't use Postgres? |
| 16:26 |

is there a way to not use mysql? i'm not aware |

u might have to edit alot of files to accomplish that.. |

I started using Typo3 a long time ago but stopped because of issues I was running into. Its been a while, so I no longer recall. Its a new version now, so I guess things might have changed |

yea, doing this now. Well the thing i need is to somehow implement two languages in this source. My friend asked if i could help, i said will try. So now trying to get better with this source and find out what is the easiest way, to do the thing with two languages :) |
| 22:53 |
nevermind |
you dont need to edit the typo3 source to make it multilingual |
| 22:53 |
nevermind |
two ways: |
| 22:53 |
nevermind |
2 page trees |
| 22:53 |
nevermind |
1 tree with two langs |
| 22:53 |
nevermind |
depending if you got alot of different pages and page content for each lang, or basically both the same, just translated |
| 22:54 |
olympus |
well, the page at the moment is in one language. I need to make , that when user comes, he pushes icon with EN(english) page reloads and displays first, index page in english |

Cool. I'm still pissed that by default, your only option with Typo3 is MySQL. |

why? |
| 23:16 |

well, i could really see a reason to user other dbs, but on the other hand, mysql in current versions runs pretty stable and even fast for larger amounts of data, if setup right |

Everyone has their taste. In my personal humble opinion, Postgres is superior, but thats just me. At the very least, (as most other projects have done), you should be able to choose which kind of database you run right from the installer. |
| 23:24 |
nevermind |
well, give it some time |
| 23:24 |

from what ive seen, typo3 5.x will be a total break with the current |
