01:32 timdeluxe hm
01:32 timdeluxe i don't understand exactly what you want
01:32 timdeluxe perhaps the workspaces concept helps you
01:34 jimmisandham1 where will i find the workspaces concept?
01:35 jimmisandham1 i just want to be able to show my client the changes ive made to their site, before i make the change live, so they can check it and approve

07:02 d|g hi all
10:34 T3 helli_t3w
10:34 T3 hello
10:34 T3 :D
10:34 helli_t3w hi
10:43 m0oman moo!
10:55 yallayalla good morning
11:00 yallayalla i have a problem with configuring realurl, i get an redirection error when i try to open www.domain.tld/typo3. Like a redirection loop.
11:01 yallayalla the navigation works fine with realurl. it seems that only my "home"page has this problem
11:03 yallayalla any ideas?
11:44 Denyerec Damn
11:44 koomi good morning Denyerec
11:44 Denyerec I really hate people who poss off after idling for only 20 minutes
11:44 Denyerec Hey koomi, hey pmk
11:44 Denyerec Much sadness.
11:44 Denyerec Stupid newsletter project was woefully under-quoted.
11:44 Denyerec So I am out of money now :()
11:44 koomi iiek
11:45 m0oman ouch. :(
11:45 Denyerec Moved house in the meantime
11:45 Denyerec so I totally lost touch with the project and don't really know how to pick it back up.
11:45 m0oman i rather don't tell you about my 25% rise i gave myself for 2008. D:
11:45 Denyerec Just got to style up SR_feuser_reg I think
11:45 Denyerec Heh
11:45 Denyerec a 25% rise for me would be a final pay value of £600
11:45 Denyerec Gives you an idea of how bad things are right now.
11:46 m0oman wow. that wouldn't even pay my rent. :(
11:46 T3 m0o
11:46 Denyerec It pays mine.... *just*
11:47 m0oman i've been living on around 400-500 euros for a few years though - i know the pain. :/
11:47 Denyerec Aye
11:47 Denyerec ;s hard to get started, specially if you're lazy like me.
11:47 koomi ^^
11:47 m0oman that doesn't help much i guess.
11:47 Denyerec Don't suppose you could give me some input on a design koomi?
11:48 Denyerec or moo :)
11:48 Denyerec I'm easy :)
11:48 m0oman being able to realistically buy myself a faster car is motivation enough to not being lazy.
11:48 m0oman i'm horrible on design stuff, but sure.
11:49 Denyerec Well if you suck at design, then you represent the browsing public :)
11:49 Denyerec so that's always valuable input
11:50 m0oman hehe.
11:50 m0oman hm. you set up your firewall/router properly to let dccs through?
11:50 Denyerec well I thought I had.
11:51 Denyerec Perhaps you can advise?
11:51 Denyerec I'm using mIRC
11:52 m0oman standard ports in mirc are 1024-1048 - just set your router (you have a NAT router, right?) up to forward that portrange to your private/internal ip and it should work.
11:52 m0oman you might have to tell your firewall explicitely to let those ports through aswell.
11:53 m0oman or, i don't know if mirc supports it, you can maybe send a passive DCC request, so i'd be the one who would have to open ports.
11:53 Denyerec my mIRC default port is set to 6669
11:54 Denyerec firewall port is 1080
11:54 Denyerec (Just looking at settings)
11:54 m0oman that's for what it connects to when it connects to the irc server.
11:54 m0oman you need to check out the DCC/file transfer settings.
11:55 m0oman you can just use the one port (1080) for forcing everything to go through it, it should work in most cases.
11:56 m0oman 1080 is just a SOCKS port i think though.
11:58 Denyerec Doesn't look like it's working.
11:58 Denyerec From what I can see, the relevant ports and port ranges are forwarded correct,
12:01 m0oman hm. :(
12:02 m0oman generally there is nothing more to it apart from forwarding ports and telling your firewall to relax a little.
12:06 Denyerec it's just a question of *which* ports :)
12:07 m0oman depending on your mirc settings, but normally 1024-1048, they're hiddin in the prefs somewhere.
12:10 Denyerec m0oman
12:10 Denyerec I figured why it's not working
12:10 Denyerec my mIRC LocalInfo isn't being set automatically properly
12:10 Denyerec brb
12:11 Denyerec et voila
12:11 Denyerec m0oman :D
12:13 m0oman ooo.
12:13 m0oman it werked!
12:13 Denyerec yeah mIRC didn't update my system IP
12:13 m0oman oh.
12:14 Denyerec The firewall was forwarding fine, but mIRC was trying to mangle the packets with totally the wrong IP.
12:14 Denyerec Problem solved :)
12:15 Denyerec I wish fixing DirectMail had been that easy
12:15 m0oman hm. i personally don't like the big dots next to the first level navigation - and there's no colour highlighting of the currently selected menu/submenu item, which i find irritating.
12:15 m0oman apart from that i think it looks quite nice.
12:15 Denyerec Except that the rootline has green dots...?
12:15 Denyerec Or do you mean something else perhaps
12:15 m0oman very clean.
12:17 Denyerec Do you mean that the current selected TEXT should also be a different colour
12:17 Denyerec ?
12:17 m0oman yeah. at least slightly.
12:17 Denyerec I see
12:17 Denyerec yes I'm inclined to agree
12:18 Denyerec they'll probably get me to change the names of the tea too.... ;)
12:18 m0oman that might be, yes.
12:18 m0oman i actually gave exactly that tea pot to my father for christmas. :P
12:23 banban i have the following problem: i have got a link to restricted page. when the user click on it 404 error page is shown. when the user click on it when logged in, he/she can see that page. i would like the user to be redirected to login page when he/she wants to see restricted page. is that possible wih typo3? thanks for any answer!
12:26 teppi|work if its a single link
12:27 teppi|work you could insert two different links
12:27 Denyerec m0oman - any suggestions regarding the green dots ?
12:27 teppi|work with the same text
12:27 teppi|work one is shown only for logged in users and leads to the right page
12:27 m0oman the small ones are ok imo. the large ones i would remove completely to be honest. they take too much focus.
12:28 teppi|work the other one is only shown if the user is not logged in and leads to the login page
12:28 teppi|work this wouls be very simple ..
12:28 teppi|work but its maybe a little bit dirty :-)
12:28 teppi|work @ banban
12:29 m0oman banban/teppi|work: i'm usually using two content elements for inline stuff, one that shows for logged in, one for not logged in people.
12:30 banban mOoman: please tell me more... what inline stuff?
12:31 teppi|work yes .. of course these two links have to be in two different content elements
12:31 m0oman inline stuff in this case = what you can create using content elements.
12:32 banban aha... but you have to do that for each page by hand, no?
12:32 m0oman yes. you can also do it via TS i'm sure, but how to do that beats me. google probably knows.
12:35 teppi|work http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/references/doc_core_tsref/4.1.0/view/4/1/#id3526749
12:35 teppi|work :-)
12:38 koomi weird php problem: if i write a faulty php script, i only get an error output if i use <?php php?> - neither <? ?> nor <?php ?> work.
12:38 koomi this is a bit unexpected
12:39 banban m0oman, teppi|work: thanks for help!
12:39 koomi banban: this should work without ts - simply by setting the access rights in the appropriate content elements
12:42 banban koomi: well i would like user to be redirected to login form when he/she wants to see restricted page
12:43 banban not sure if possible by simply setting the access rights in the appropriate content elements... or am i wrong?
12:43 koomi wrong. :)
12:43 T3 how t oset up a charset in typo3
12:43 T3 how to set up a charset in typo3
12:44 koomi put a login form on that page. add another text element. set the access rights for the login form to only show when not logged in, for the text to only show when logged in
12:44 T3 koomi
12:44 koomi T3
12:44 koomi T3: http://www.google.com/search?q=typo3+set+charset&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
12:45 banban koomi: understood, but i shouls do that for all the pages by hand?
12:45 koomi banban: all pages? thought it would be just one.
12:45 koomi banban: all pages might be tricky.
12:45 banban koomi: no.. i would like to have that for all the tree structure...
12:46 koomi oic
12:47 koomi might work with pidinrootline then.
12:49 koomi [PIDinRootline = {hiddenPagesParentPid}] && [loginUser = *]
12:50 delmonico hi. i have this weird typo3 site where tt_news refuses to use listOrderBy - no matter what i set it to, the news items are sorted by UID... anyone knows how to troubleshoot this?
12:50 delmonico same for a tt news content element, a typoscript-defined news-box and the ts-defined rss feed...
12:51 delmonico no listOrderBy in the object browser so it should default to datetime desc
12:55 banban koomi: got it, but in [ELSE] statement i need to configure the redirection to login page
12:55 koomi banban: just subsitute page.10 or lib.content (if you use tv) with the login form
12:56 banban and this doesnt work quite well coz the user still need to rebrowse to that link again... he/she is not autoamticly redirected
12:56 koomi banban: but that could be handled by the login form
12:57 koomi banban: (not quite sure how to do it via ts - but i guess it's possible)
12:57 koomi banban: actually the page just needs to reload for ts condition to hit. and if the user submits his data, it should reload just fine
12:57 koomi (from a theoretical pov)
12:58 koomi freak. why do i get a blank page with a fresh install. no error, no install tool. nothing. and i freakin enabled display_errors & co
12:59 banban koomi: it gotta be permission problem i guess
12:59 koomi na. it's all chgrp'ed to www-data
12:59 koomi and if it's a permission problem i demand an apache error telling me about it
13:06 pempem Hi all!
13:06 koomi aloha pempem
13:06 pempem I'm trying to know if it's possible to limit a user to a specific workspace. I've created a new workspace but I can't see it it the user properties page
13:07 koomi wtf. i missed php5-mysql and typo3 just dies without an error
13:10 Denyerec haha
13:14 koomi took me a good hour to figure that out.
13:14 pempem Can someone tell me if that's doable or not?
13:15 koomi pempem: sorry. i've never used workspaces before
13:15 Denyerec pempem
13:15 Denyerec when you create a workspace can you allocate usergroups to it ?
13:16 pempem sir yes sir
13:17 Philip2000 hi
13:19 pempem http://lists.netfielders.de/pipermail/typo3-english/2006-April/023845.html found that. Seems logical. The thing I do not understand is why, when a workspace is created, I can't simply check it as the default workspace on the user properties pages.

14:03 jameelsandam how do most developers show a client the site changes, or new site content, before they make it live? so the client can approve or disaprove first?
14:08 jameelsandam anybody?
14:25 jameelsandam how do most developers show a client the site changes, or new site content, before they make it live? so the client can approve or disaprove first?
14:37 m0oman jameelsandam: don't know. we don't have that scenario.
14:37 timdeluxe jameelsandam: didn't workspaces fit to your needings?
14:37 timdeluxe (and you are repeating)
14:38 jameelsandam repeating what?
14:38 timdeluxe your question
14:38 jameelsandam may i ask, why you dont have that scenario?
14:39 koomi jameelsandam: typo3 uses workspaces for these scenarios: you can edit content, preview it and if it's ok then publish it to the live pages
14:39 jameelsandam im still quite new to all of this :(
14:39 jameelsandam ok thanks
14:39 jameelsandam ill read the full workspaces doc
14:40 jameelsandam yaya more reading lol :(
14:41 koomi jameelsandam: :)
14:44 foool anyone got accordion going on their site?
14:47 foool anyone got accordion going on their site?
14:48 koomi foool: what is "accordion"
14:48 foool an extension
14:55 jameelsandam can anyone tell me why, when i use the RTE, anytime i try add an image or hyperlink, i get error messages saying about a missing directory, and how do i fix this?
15:20 jameelsandam anyone?
15:22 pempem I already had the error
15:22 pempem But can't really remember what was wrong
15:22 pempem maybe a rights problem on the folder
15:29 koomi jameelsandam: perhaps something wrong in uploads/ ?
15:33 jameelsandam i will have a look thanks
15:39 koomi what's a "good" extension that implements most of the basic stuff to start writing your own?
16:14 TYPO3 heyy people
16:14 TYPO3 how can i learn TYPO 3 SCRIPT
16:14 TYPO3 SCREEN
16:44 teppi|work by reading ..
17:14 Denyerec See
17:14 Denyerec that's what pisses me off about people using the name "TYPO3"
17:14 Denyerec you never know if it's the same bloody person
17:20 KYPO3 it's clearly me now.
17:20 Denyerec haha
17:21 koomi hrhr. someone even registered the nick typo3
17:21 koomi if you'd registered that nick you could just /msg nickserv recover typo3 and the user would get kicked (if i understand nickserv right)
17:30 uriahheep ugh... there should be a more descriptive tutorial somewhere on how to properly create backend users for versioning...
17:39 T3 just2b
17:46 nancy hello all
17:51 nature Denyerec?
18:22 Denyerec nature?
18:26 timdeluxe sounds like a turtle dialogue :D
18:45 nature hey
18:46 timdeluxe wuhaha if every answer lasts 30 mins you will need years to talk to each others
18:47 nature i'm running around doing stuff. but i was gonna ask - my company is looking to hire a typo3 "expert" for help on various projects we have. was wondering if you were interested or know of anyone that might be. it'd be consulting not full time.
18:47 nature yeah
20:46 AlexTheGer1 hi there
20:47 AlexTheGer1 I found out that one extention is blocking elements to appear. My questition now is: how does the extention does this and how to I stop that behaviour?
20:53 just2b depends on the ext, can be php, can be ts
20:59 AlexTheGer1 in the TS-page.txt I found the line: "allowedNewTables = sys_domain,pages, be_groups, be_users, sys_filemounts" which allready blocked some parts. After removing this line some elements got visible again but others are still not visible. If I unistall the extention the other elements get visible.
21:00 AlexTheGer1 waht sould I look for in the phps or ts?
21:00 AlexTheGer1 +what should
21:03 just2b both ;)
21:03 just2b in BE, look for tsconfig
21:23 AlexTheGer1 it apears to me that allowedNewTables and hideTables are the only values that could prevent an Element to show up. Am I right with this?
