hi |
| 08:37 |
GerhardSchr |
how can i use (export) a php variable in typo3? |
| 08:37 |
_pedda_ |
hi :) |
| 08:37 |
_pedda_ |
? |
| 08:38 |
_pedda_ |
get var from ext php ? |
| 08:38 |
_pedda_ |
or get var from typo3 for ext php script |
| 08:38 |
_pedda_ |
? |
| 08:40 |
GerhardSchr |
from php to typo3 |
| 08:40 |
_pedda_ |
GPvar is your friend ;) |
| 08:40 |
GerhardSchr |
thanks |
| 08:40 |
GerhardSchr |
oh where can i read about |
| 08:40 |
GerhardSchr |
? |
| 08:40 |
_pedda_ |
just a second ;) |
| 08:41 |
GerhardSchr |
ok |
| 08:42 |
_pedda_ |
http://wiki.typo3.org/De:TSrefConditions |
| 08:42 |
_pedda_ |
is for conditions... this is not what you need, but gpvar is explained also |
| 08:42 |
_pedda_ |
[globalVar = GP:print > 0] |
| 08:43 |
_pedda_ |
would check if print is > 0 and then execute some commands |
| 08:43 |
_pedda_ |
so if you want to wrap a gpvar in a paragraph it would be this way: |
| 08:43 |
GerhardSchr |
_pedda_: globalVar is the typo3 var? |
| 08:44 |
_pedda_ |
globalVar is used for conditions in the example i told you |
| 08:45 |
_pedda_ |
to perform a condition if the variable print (GPvar in the url) is > 0 |
| 08:45 |
GerhardSchr |
thanks _pedda_ ;) |
| 08:46 |
_pedda_ |
np |
| 08:47 |
_pedda_ |
http://wiki.typo3.org/De:ts45min#if |
| 08:47 |
_pedda_ |
is a nice example for getting the value for the variable L |
| 08:49 |
GerhardSchr |
_pedda_: yes these example is good |
| 09:15 |
GerhardSchr |
_pedda_: can i check only with typoscript if a site is a parent id or a single (site) id? |
| 09:15 |
_pedda_ |
? |

Im trying to wrap my related news, but displaySingle.related_stdWrap.wrap has no effect |
| 10:38 |
maholtz|WORK |
afaik related_stdWrap is not an stdWrap but only an wrap - imho it is wrong in documentation - have an look in source code to check that |

fred^^ |
thanks maholtz, i should have thought about checking source code - ill start doing that when im stuck |

guys i need an advice, is there pa program, that would help me skectch the layout of the page |
| 11:12 |
HardPhuck |
so i could send the sketch via email to my client |
| 11:12 |
HardPhuck |
and he would add content to that sketch (draft) easily |
| 11:16 |
HardPhuck |
and no html knowledge would be needed or involved |

HardPhuck |
uhm, i guess my wish is pretty utopic :) |

@HardPhuck: use photoshop, print out, take pencil send that to your customer;) |

fred^^ |
there are webbased collab services |

fred^^ |
and sketching services - good for wireframes and mockups |

so you could send a url to customer, and they could add comments and simple objects |

fred^^you tried addInfo_stdWrap already ? |

its no good using template, since is there wont be related news all the time |

i wonder if its possible to check with conditions if there are related news |

then i could perhaps use a different template |

| 14:51 |
Sakoon_Mahool |
what is this |
| 14:52 |
mArm_WnG |
i googled and searched but found nothing so : in the backend form, for adding a file there is 2 field : one for selecting server's file, another for uploading a file (with browse... button). |
| 14:53 |
mArm_WnG |
i need to remove the uploading field but not the file selection field |

artikels@mArm_WnG: you should be a little more patient in this high traffic chat;) you talk about the direct upload field? there is an option in your user account to activate / deactivate |

maholtz680 |
but works that? |
| 15:01 |
mArm_WnG |
by one way, not by activating on each users. And I need only the direct upload field hidden. The select field must be there (users can add files but not uploading them) |
| 15:02 |
mArm_WnG |
I search about doing this. Atm I found nothing about this :s |

Sakoon_Mahool |
It is working when i click on my page overview |

write an bug report - check the bugtracker of powermail (afaik on forge) |

no, i thought it is my foult |

validation didn't work when using two standart forms on one page...i did a small test some minutes ago.. |

snoy_ms |
maholtz680: when using powermail it sents two mails...it doesnt care if you fill in teh first or the second form |
| 15:56 |
Prot0 |
eek, bad validation then hehe, should check form names or something |
| 15:58 |
snoy_ms |
Prot0: If i use two standart Typo3 forms on one page, it only checks the fields in the first form. You can sent the second form without any entry. |

rapha |
Hi! |
| 17:10 |
rapha |
I've installed Typo3 now and it's running just fine. What should I read to learn how to implement an existing HTML/CSS design in Typo3? |
| 17:11 |
Tsoots |
modern/futuristic template building tutorials from typo3.org docs |
| 17:11 |
rapha |
Okay, thanks. |
| 17:12 |
Tsoots |
the one to use |
| 17:12 |
Tsoots |
tv is great fun |
| 17:13 |
Tsoots |
and it also seems to work ok |
| 17:13 |
rapha |
tv? |
| 17:13 |
rapha |
As in, television? |
| 17:13 |
Tsoots |
templavoila |
| 17:13 |
chefan |
futuristic in that case refers to "not outdated or obsolete" |
| 17:14 |
rapha |
Ah okay |
| 17:14 |
rapha |
Well, TV it is, then. |
| 17:15 |
chefan |
with a very light use case you could just use default templates or build them manually with typoscript, but if you have a usecase that simple, the question is if typo3 should be your platform of choice for it |
| 17:15 |
chefan |
could be a bit like nukeing ants |
| 17:15 |
rapha |
Hmmm, is http://art-creation.info/ a "light" use case? |
| 17:17 |
maholtz680 |
@rapha: it depends on how many editors work on you site, how many changes should be done from people who does not know HTML etc. |
| 17:17 |
rapha |
The thing is, that page is implemented in something called phpwcms right now (which is so awful I don't even want to look at the backend) and I want to move it to a more sane CMS. At the same time, I foresee having to use a CMS much more often in the future anyways, so I thought why not teach myself Typo3, since it's said to be flexible enough for most things. |
| 17:17 |
rapha |
maholtz680: 3 people, 2 of which don't know HTML. |
| 17:18 |
maholtz680 |
IMHO if you configure TYPO3 correct, they will be happy:) |
| 17:18 |
chefan |
rapha: seeing that it's a commercial site with online ordering, dynamic content and possibly multimedia integration it looks sufficiently complex to not make type3 seem overboard |
| 17:18 |
rapha |
Okay |
| 17:18 |
maholtz680 |
but that is much harder than set up an phpwcms:( |
| 17:19 |
rapha |
Well, the guy who set up phpwcms did it because "it looked interesting". At some point he lost interest and just did things "his own way". Trust me, it doesn't get much worse than that. |
| 17:19 |
chefan |
indeed it is, but once it runs, depending on the quality of the setup job, it might save a lot of time in maintenance later on |
| 17:20 |
rapha |
And I'm a PHP/Ruby on Rails web app developer by day, so I figure I'll just need to invest some time into Typo3 to become acquainted wit hit. |
| 17:20 |
chefan |
with editors/maintainers who don't know too much about the technology involved, implementing some fe content editing might be something to think about |
| 17:20 |
chefan |
*gulp* |
| 17:20 |
chefan |
depending on your idea of "some time", ok :) |
| 17:21 |
rapha |
"some time" == "2-4 weeks"? |
| 17:21 |
maholtz680 |
@rapha: i think you are right, but you have to be patient with TYPO3 and yourself... TYPO3 is extremly flexible and you do not have to code php |
| 17:22 |
rapha |
I see |
| 17:22 |
rapha |
I was pondering buying the book that is recommended on typo3.org |
| 17:23 |
rapha |
On the other hand, if setting up Typo3 would be more work than hand-coding the site to be editable by the users, there wouldn't be much of a point, either... |
| 17:23 |
snoy_ms |
rapha: i also use a framework for special apps, but usning typo3 is completly differnt |
| 17:24 |
chefan |
rapha: with your professional background, this might give you a good overview about what you are dealing with: http://buzz.typo3.org/people/stucki/article/typo3-frontend-rendering-explained/ |
| 17:25 |
chefan |
that was quite a kickstart for me :) |
| 17:25 |
rapha |
Oh, cool!! had been looking for something like that :-) |

talking about the book, which version is coverd in the latest printrun? Does anyone know that? |
| 17:27 |
chefan |
the one circulating in the company i work for is pretty much outdated and serves more or less for getting first ideas what to google for :D |
| 17:36 |
shocksi |
has anybody used templavoila and multi language extensions? |
| 17:37 |
shocksi |
and worked with Flexform configuration of those plugins? |
| 17:37 |
shocksi |
I dont mean as a coder but as a user |
| 17:52 |
rapha |
Too bad, almost none of the documentation uses 4.2.2. |
| 17:56 |
maholtz680 |
@rapha: that should be no problem |
| 18:04 |
rapha |
maholtz680: nah, it's just a bit confusing here and there. So far I can cope tho :-P |
| 18:05 |
rapha |
There's an old site of mine, http://herrenberger-buehne.de (which I did when I was still young and stupid, and which doesn't really work anymore) that seems just about perfect to get into this stuff. |
| 18:06 |
maholtz680 |
yep |
| 18:39 |
rapha |
Heh |
| 18:39 |
rapha |
Had I known there's a TemplaVoila wizard now, _before_ I began reading the Futuristic Templating Manual |
| 18:40 |
rapha |
The Manual should prolly be updated to tell you about that wizard. |
| 18:43 |
Briareos1 |
Shall I use GraphicsMagick or ImageMagick? Is there any final decision on that in relation to Typo3 somewhere? |
| 18:44 |
rapha |
If you view the website now you should see a blank page with nothing in the body.", but instead I get "TemplaVoila ERROR: Couldn't find a Data Structure set for table/row "pages:5". Please select a Data Structure and Template Object first." - any idea? |
| 18:45 |
rapha |
Also, it doesn't work anymore. I'm now at the point (in http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/tutorials/doc_tut_ftb1/1.0.1/view/1/2/) where it says that " |
| 18:45 |
rapha |
Woops ... wrong order of these two lines :-) |
| 18:50 |
akakakir |
hello ppl, I'm new with typo3 and I have a newbie question (I guess), would anyone have some free time to help me with that issue? |
| 18:53 |
akakakir |
...or can anyone link to me an active forum where I will be able to get fast help? |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
Here is goof |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
good |
| 18:55 |
Denyerec |
but it depends on the problem |
| 18:56 |
Denyerec |
so spit it out and see what happens. |
| 18:56 |
Denyerec |
:) |
| 18:56 |
akakakir |
thank you Denyerec, I will refer to a french thread I made about it so the links (to screenshots) will be available |
| 18:57 |
akakakir |
the problem is quite simple, I want to change the text in the menu of my FE |
| 18:57 |
akakakir |
when I make the modification in the BE, it creates a URL problem for all the sub links |
| 18:57 |
Denyerec |
clear the cache |
| 18:57 |
Denyerec |
and hit the frontpage again? |
| 18:58 |
akakakir |
tried that, did not work |
| 18:58 |
akakakir |
tried clearing RealURL tables too |
| 18:58 |
Denyerec |
did you use realUrl Tool to make sure they're all clear? |
| 18:58 |
akakakir |
the modification works, the path change but it seems the URL stays the same |
| 18:58 |
akakakir |
I did, that's where I'm at actually |
| 18:59 |
Denyerec |
links |
| 18:59 |
akakakir |
http://forum.typo3.fr/index.php?showtopic=11584 |
| 18:59 |
akakakir |
in the thread, first link is a pic of my BE and want I want to change |
| 19:00 |
akakakir |
2nd link is what I want to modify in the FE |
| 19:00 |
akakakir |
3rd is what I tried |
| 19:00 |
akakakir |
4th shows the changes |
| 19:00 |
akakakir |
5th the error that occurs |
| 19:01 |
akakakir |
(when clicking in the sub links in that "new" menu) |
| 19:02 |
akakakir |
I tried clearing the FE cache, typo3conf cache, realUrl tables, still the same problem |
| 19:03 |
akakakir |
Some guy trying to help me asked if something was written in: "Speaking URL path segment:" but did not come back to me about it (nothing is written) |
| 19:03 |
Denyerec |
that's an override |
| 19:03 |
Denyerec |
so blank is fine |
| 19:04 |
Denyerec |
typically you should just have to clear the realURL cache (I use aeURLTool) and then the site cache, then hit the frontpage. |
| 19:04 |
akakakir |
that's what I've been told too, that's actually the problem I'm having |
| 19:04 |
Denyerec |
cos that REALLY sounds like a RealURL cache error |
| 19:05 |
akakakir |
is there a way to bypass this? |
| 19:05 |
Denyerec |
can you give me a be login ? |
| 19:05 |
akakakir |
I'm sorry, this site is not mine and I'm not allowed, I wish I had the permission |
| 19:06 |
Denyerec |
:/ |
| 19:06 |
Denyerec |
Not much I can do I'm afraid |
| 19:06 |
Denyerec |
installed aeurltool |
| 19:06 |
Denyerec |
that will help you diagnose the realURL issue |
| 19:06 |
akakakir |
I understand, well thank you for your help anyway |
| 19:06 |
akakakir |
ok I will |
| 19:06 |
Denyerec |
(It's kinda like asking a mechanic to fix a car without opening the bonnet... ;)) |
| 19:07 |
akakakir |
yeah I totally understand |
| 19:08 |
akakakir |
This is all very new to me I'm for some stranges reasons, I'm now in charge of the site, I don't really have the competences to do so lol |
| 19:08 |
akakakir |
Installing that thing into Typo3 also is a huge task for me hahaha |
| 19:08 |
Denyerec |
lol |
| 19:09 |
Denyerec |
Typo3 rocks |
| 19:09 |
Denyerec |
but it is pretty huge |
| 19:09 |
akakakir |
The problem I'm having is annoying because it should be so simple (well I guess) |
| 19:10 |
akakakir |
and I have to fix it because with IE, there is a major bug with the meny as it is |
| 19:10 |
akakakir |
*menu |
| 19:12 |
akakakir |
Maybe I create a new Menu Item, then copy every sub pages into that new directory, then erase the old one? |
| 19:16 |
rapha |
The backend UI is completely stupid! You can't even delete things that have sub-things. Icons are so small that you have to try real hard to click in the right place. The usage of JavaScript is completely RANDOM instead of SENSIBLE. And don't even get me started on the code structure of the backend itself. How has this become so popular? |
| 19:24 |
snoy_ms |
rapha: ou can't even delete things that have sub-things. Thats not true |
| 19:25 |
snoy_ms |
rapha: Maybe you check out your admin user settings. And watch out for recursive deleting ;-) |
| 19:26 |
rapha |
well, if that was the worst thing |
| 19:27 |
rapha |
but the entire backend ui feels so ... clunky, so 1990... |
| 19:27 |
rapha |
dunno, maybe i just need some more warming-up with it to do |
| 19:32 |
lucasthurston |
Hi all -- anyone in here familiar with CoolUri? I'm considering using it for a project instead of RealURL and I'm wondering if anyone has moved from RealURL to CoolUri and has any thoughts about the two. Or perhaps regrets? Maybe stories of triumph. |
| 19:34 |
dinsdale07 |
rapha, there are skins for the backend if you don't like the layout. Personally I have gotten used to the UI, it's like my thinkpads, won't win a design price but it's quite usable and I know where my stuff is. |
| 19:34 |
lucasthurston |
There is a specific issue I'm trying to address in the process (which know how to handle in RealURL): that is to generate a page path based ONLY on the page alias if that value is set. |
| 19:36 |
snoy_ms |
lucasthurston>: cooluri seems to work great |
| 19:36 |
snoy_ms |
lucasthurston: someone at a german usergroup told it yesterday. He sad that he use it in alot of productiv websites |
| 19:38 |
lucasthurston |
snoy_ms: Yeah, I got it working instantly, which is nice. I've heard it's pretty well-liked. Apart from the XML configuration, is it all that different from RealURL? Is there anything one can do that the other can't? |
| 19:40 |
snoy_ms |
lucasthurston: german ? |
| 19:41 |
lucasthurston |
snoy_ms: Nein. |
| 19:41 |
snoy_ms |
lucasthurston: lol, ok second. |
| 19:42 |
snoy_ms |
lucasthurston: sorry can't find the link about cooluri |
| 19:43 |
lucasthurston |
snoy_ms: That's ok. Documentation seems a bit sparse. I've found some, though. |
| 19:43 |
snoy_ms |
lucasthurston: the only thing i can say is, that some people used it with good results. |
| 19:45 |
lucasthurston |
snoy_ms: Thanks, good to know people are using it with success in production environments. |

theconic |
i want to include a template in tt_news that is in another directory |
| 20:12 |
theconic |
normal is "EXT:tt_news/pi/tt_news_v2_template.html" |
| 20:13 |
theconic |
what do i have to write when I want to go to the install folder? |
| 20:13 |
rapha |
dinsdale07: that's funny you mention you have ThinkPads, because a TP is my main workstation _exactly_ because of its no-frills design :-) |
| 20:13 |
theconic |
something like "HOME:templates/bla..." |
| 20:14 |
theconic |
the folder is in typo3/templates |
| 20:15 |
dinsdale07 |
rapha, With the risk of being a fanboy :-) I'm on my 5th generation - 600, a21p, t21, t43p, x41. |
| 20:16 |
theconic |
can someone please tell me how to go to the home root folder? |
| 20:19 |
theconic |
have you all become so tired? ;) |
| 20:19 |
snoy_ms_ |
wow....sorry sec. |
| 20:21 |
snoy_ms_ |
theconic: sorry never used tt_news before |
| 20:23 |
snoy_ms_ |
theconic: i would say "fileadmin/you_folder/maybe_another/folder" |
| 20:24 |
theconic |
snoy_ms: i don't think this depends on the extension |
| 20:24 |
theconic |
if i try to give in the path like "templates/something.html" it doesn't work |
| 20:25 |
theconic |
so i need to know the shortcut for the T3 Installation |
| 20:25 |
snoy_ms_ |
no |
| 20:25 |
theconic |
like "EXT:" is the shortcut for the extension folder |
| 20:25 |
snoy_ms_ |
fileadmin/templates/something.html |
| 20:25 |
theconic |
but it's not located in "fileadmin" |
| 20:25 |
snoy_ms_ |
ohh, ok |
| 20:26 |
snoy_ms_ |
sorry missunderstood |
| 20:26 |
theconic |
it's one step earlier |
| 20:26 |
theconic |
if you go to fileadmin and then one step upwards ;) |
| 20:27 |
snoy_ms_ |
but why do you include it into the ext directory ? |
| 20:27 |
theconic |
i don't |
| 20:28 |
snoy_ms_ |
and where is it located ? |
| 20:28 |
theconic |
how do you call the folder with the t3 installation |
| 20:28 |
theconic |
where fileadmin is inside |
| 20:28 |
snoy_ms_ |
typo3 |
| 20:28 |
theconic |
ok, then it is in typo3/templates/something |
| 20:29 |
snoy_ms_ |
never put a template in the packet folder |
| 20:29 |
theconic |
but in fileadmin? |
| 20:29 |
snoy_ms_ |
yes |
| 20:29 |
theconic |
is this for security reasons? |
| 20:30 |
theconic |
ok then i will transfer my stuff to fileadmin...... |
| 20:30 |
snoy_ms_ |
First: you can handelt and edit it with the filebrowser |
| 20:30 |
theconic |
i don't use the filebrowser :/ |
| 20:31 |
theconic |
but ok |
| 20:31 |
snoy_ms_ |
Second: Keep things away from source folders because.. |
| 20:31 |
snoy_ms_ |
.if you update typo3 everything gets deletet |
| 20:31 |
theconic |
even if it is in typo3/TEMPLATES/something |
| 20:31 |
theconic |
?? |
| 20:33 |
snoy_ms_ |
the typo3 folder is a source packet folder |
| 20:34 |
snoy_ms_ |
if i update typo3 i changed to a new typo3 packet, this includes a new typo3 folder. In your case everything gets lost |
| 20:35 |
theconic |
ok now i misunderstood ;) |
| 20:35 |
theconic |
i mean another folder |
| 20:35 |
theconic |
now what i mean is the folder one step up from your Typo3 folder ;) |
| 20:36 |
theconic |
where all the folders like "typo3" , "fileadmin" etc are inside |
| 20:36 |
snoy_ms_ |
and there you built a new folder |
| 20:36 |
snoy_ms_ |
? |
| 20:36 |
theconic |
yes |
| 20:36 |
theconic |
exactly |
| 20:37 |
snoy_ms_ |
i would do it |
| 20:37 |
snoy_ms_ |
not do it |
| 20:37 |
theconic |
yes ^^ |
| 20:37 |
snoy_ms_ |
ahhrrg my english sucks |
| 20:37 |
theconic |
ok, all inside fileadmin? |
| 20:37 |
snoy_ms_ |
sorry |
| 20:37 |
snoy_ms_ |
yes |
| 20:37 |
theconic |
does everyone do it like that? |
| 20:38 |
snoy_ms_ |
yes |
| 20:38 |
theconic |
ok, convinced ;) |
| 20:38 |
theconic |
thanks |
| 20:38 |
theconic |
and bye |
| 20:38 |
snoy_ms_ |
bye |
| 20:39 |
snoy_ms_ |
later you can easily use the filebrowser in typo3 backend |
| 20:39 |
rapha |
dinsdale07: Alright to be a fanboy with these machines :-) - I remember when I had my 701cs back then. Ever since missed it, so when it was time for a new laptop, I went all T61 - can only recommend the UMTS option, too! |
| 20:49 |
radigamov |
hello all, I have extension created in the kickstarter I have one option for backend section according to it I'd like to make some actions (for example create folder or DB queries) what should I do? |
| 20:50 |
radigamov |
I meant some action on creating or editing rows using backend |
| 20:51 |
theconic |
does someone here use wfqbe? |
| 21:08 |
theconic |
would someone please tell me why it is not enough to write just "plugin.tx_wfqbe_pi1.wrapInBaseClass = 0" in the template? i says so in the manual http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/extension-manuals/wfqbe/1.2.0/view/1/4/ |
| 21:10 |
theconic |
the ts doesn't change anything (i'm a noob in ts, maybe i have to write some general ts before) |
| 21:10 |
theconic |
i only wrote this line in the setup, nothing else |
| 21:57 |
Phlogi |
theconic: what do you expect from this ts? |
| 21:57 |
Phlogi |
theconic: that just removes a simple class |
| 21:58 |
theconic |
phlogi: this is what i expect |
| 21:58 |
Phlogi |
theconic: and it does not work? |
| 21:58 |
theconic |
but it doesn't change anything |
| 21:58 |
Phlogi |
use the ts browser to check |
| 21:59 |
Phlogi |
theconic: thats the easiest way for starters |
| 22:00 |
theconic |
my aim is to get this working: http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/extension-manuals/wfqbe/1.2.0/view/1/4/ #customquery |
| 22:00 |
theconic |
i only use that to look whether my ts works in general... |
| 22:02 |
theconic |
do you mean the typoscript object browser in template module? |
| 22:16 |
Phlogi |
theconic: jap |
| 22:17 |
znewb |
is there a software to decompress .t3x files? |
| 22:18 |
MyGoddess |
znewb... hum... php ? :D |
| 22:18 |
znewb |
for win xp |
| 22:18 |
MyGoddess |
t3x files are compressed serialized php arrays. |
| 22:19 |
znewb |
thanx MyGoddess |
| 22:19 |
MyGoddess |
there is a hash or size, don't remember, followed by ':' and then the true data on which you just have to do unserialize(gzipuncompress()) |
| 22:19 |
MyGoddess |
or something like that. |
| 22:25 |
tCzern |
anyone home? |
| 22:53 |

| 23:26 |
snoy_ms_ |
standart mail form in typo3 -> Anyone knows why two forms on one page didn't work correct ? |
| 23:26 |
snoy_ms_ |
The form validation for only works for the first form on the page, the second one can be sent without any entrys |
